Keeping off those extra pounds and avoiding heart disease can be a tough chore, but for
many Clinton and area men, the job is much easier because of a men's fitness class set up
by Clinton Rec. Director Mike Stephens. Here John Lawson leads the class, which meets
every Monday night at CUSS, through some rigorous and heart building exercises. (News-

The first Intermediate ball
meeting took place March 25_ at
Vanastra in the Physical
Training Building,
About 15 players attended
this meeting. It was decided to'
go Intermediate "B" for the 73
season and not compete in the
W.O.A.A. The team will
however still play against such
teams as Walkerton, Wingham,
Exeter, Dashwood, Thorndale,
Arva aryl possibly Mitchell,
Several merchants in town
have consented to donate half
the cost of new uniforms for the
team this season. Otherwise as
usual, the Colts will continue
to sponsor themselves,
Also discussed at the meeting
was the strong possibility of
hosting an Intermediate Open
Ball Tourriament which may
include such teams as Bay City
Michigan, Sarnia, Corunna,
Renfrew, Walkerton, Dash-
wood, and Thorndale as well as
the host team Clinton.
The executives of the club for
this season as picked by mem-
bers of the team are: Dennis
Fleischauer, Jack Hart, Larry
Reinhart and Basil O'Brien.
The Colts are fortunate as all
of the ballplayers should be
returning this year from last
year's team. In Interrmediate
"C", Clinton has been most
successful having won the All-
Quickly-growing as one of the
most popular 'round-Ontario
harness racing tours, the On-
tario Harness Horsemens

year-old pacers closes April 15.
The series of stakes, offered
at seven smaller Ontario cen-
tres with the $6,000 final Sept.

eight leading money winners in
the preliminaries, begins July 1
at Kingston's Frontenac Downs
Raceway.

Colts to bat "B" ball
Recreationally speaking
By Mike Stephens
The ice is out, the winter is gone, and we are taking a look
at that extra bit of insulation called "fat", that has ac-
cumulated mysteriously over the winter,
We could go on diets to attempt to slim •down but
sometimes that just isn't good enough. The other alternative
of course is exercise.
I would like to remind those men with initiative, that
there are fitness classes held every Monday night at the
High School from 7:30.9:30 p.m. However, there are many
individuals in town that feel that this one class per week
does not meet their needs to effectively keep fit. As a result,
there will be a meeting for all interested individuals male or
female to discuss possible recreational programs for the
town. This important meeting will take place April 11, at 7
p,m. in the arena.
Some of the types of fitness programs to be discussed, are
calisthenics, jogging, walking, bicycling and swimming. In-
dividual programs can be set up as well as group programs
so as to keep participants interested,
We will use Doctor Cooper's "Aerobics" plan as the basis
for discussion. Please come to this meeting if you are in-
terested.
To change the topic now, I've heard a lot of comments
that now that the ice is being taken out, there will be no
more hockey until next season. Well, we hope that these
"nasty" rumors are false as we are attempting to organize a
floor hockey league in town, This will be divided into three
categories: boys 15-18; men 18 and over; and for the
women's lib type, girls from 13 to 20 will be able to play
also. A meeting to discuss floor hockey will take place at the
arena Wednesday April 11 at 8 p.m.
There will be one game per week per team and the first is
to be played on Tuesday April 17. The schedule will only
. run for eight weeks so that we're not inside for the good
weather,
As both of these meetings are to be held at the arena, I
will expect a good turnout. See you on Wednesday.
