Mrs, Milton Pardy, editor of
the Home and Country
Magazine, conducted a short
course on Women's Institute
Procedures in Hensall Legion
Hall on Friday March 30. Not
only were procedures discussed
but a great deal was learned
about the Women's Institute
organization, It was a very wor-
thwhile day. Branches in South
Huron were present. Kippen
East Women's Institute was
hostess.
441 CLUB
The fifth meeting of Kippen
II "Super Sports Stars" was
held at the home of Mrs. Rae
Consett on March 22.
The meeting opened with the
4-zli Pledge and the roll call
was answered by six members,
The leaders asked for problems
encountered and demonstrated
putting on a mock cuff. The
exhibit was discussed and the
fashion show for Achievement
Day. Next meeting was at
McGregors on March 29.
SOCIAL EVENING
Unit 2 of Kippen U.C.W. hild
a social evening at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kinsman
on March 29,
Thirteen tables of euchre
were in play and the winners
were: ladies high, Mrs. Wm.
Coleman; ladies low, Mrs. H.
Binnendyk; men's high, Bill
Coleman; men's low, Stan
Jackson; lone hands Joe
McLellan. A delicious lunch
was served by the leaders, Mrs.
R. Kinsman and Mrs. R. Elgie
and their committee.

On Friday afternoon, March
16, Mr. Jamieson's Grade 8
class presented a St. Patrick's
Day assembly to other classes
and parents, .
'0 Canada' opened the
program, followed by an
operetta, entitled "The Land of
The Leprechauns." Madelyn
Sewers then read a selection
called "The Wearing 0' The
Green." Gold All Around", a
short play, followed. Next, a
double duet "Spring Song",
and "Song Sung Blue" was
sung by Kathy Hunking, June
Machan, Madelyn Sewers and
Cathy Peel. Five pupils, Ron
Plunkett, Darrell Shobbrook,
Keith Howatt, Cathy Peel and
Kathy Hunking gave a choral
reading called "Michael's
Guelph visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Dave Triebner.
We are sorry to report that
Mrs. Lillian Forrest Parr Line
is in Wingham Hospital with a
broken leg,
Callers with Mrs. H. Cald-
well and John Caldwell on the

Mrs. Paul Packman has
returned home having spent
some time with her parents in
Kingston.
Mr. and Mrs. Gregor
McGregor will celebrate their
50th wedding anniversary on
April 21.

gave some remarks next, and
also presented the nine public
speaking winners from the
school with their awards. A
play called "Nature In
Balance" followed, and next
the Grade 8 girls sang "Lon-
donderry Air", the boys sang
"An Honest Irish Lad", and
together, they sang "An Irish
Jig". On behalf of everyone
present, Mrs. Livingston
thanked Mr. Jamiesmn and his
class for an enjoyable program.
On Thursday morning,
March 29, Mrs. Violet Howes,
who taught at Hullett Central
last year, and who retired in
June, 1972, spoke to Grades 5
and 6 about her recent trip to
Hawaii. She brought many
beautiful slides, and a table
full of souvenirs, trinkets and
mementos of her trip. The
students found this very in-
teresting and enjoyable, since
they will be studying Hawaii in
their Social Studies course. Her
visit was greatly appreciated by
all.
On Thursday and Friday,
March 29 and 30, Constable
Wayne Moulton of the
Goderich Detachment of the
Ontario Provincial Police
visited in the school, speaking
to each class about various
topics.
In Kindergarten through
grade 3, his topic was
Pedestrian Safety.
To grades 4 through 7, he
spoke about bicycle and
pedestrian safety. He had many
slides to accompany his talk,
which showed very well what
he was warning the classes
about. He also handed out
pamphlets, concerning bicycle
safety.
In grade 8, he spoke about
the duties of an officer and how
he performs them, and showed
some slides here as well.

and Mrs. Vivan Cooper is in St.
Josephs Hospital London for
tests.
Mr, Grant McGregor is in
hospital for tests in London.
Mrs. Hazel Long's house has
been sold to the MacCallums of
Hensall.
4-H CLUB
The sixth meeting of Kippen
II 4-H Club met on March 29
at the home of Mrs, Grant
McGregor.
The roll call was answered
by seven members and hand
out sheets and Achievement
Day plans were discussed.
Mrs. McGregor demonstrated
putting on a mock cuff, putting
in a sleeve and putting in a zip-
per in a turtleneck top.
