meeting with a reading after
which the Creed and the
Lord's Prayer were said in
unison,
The minutes of the previous
meeting were read by Sandra
Westerhout and declared
correct, Suzanne Vodden read
the treasurer's report,
Correspondence was received
from Marion Snell and from
the Women's Hospital
Auxiliary. It was agreed to
donate to the Auxiliary instead
of becoming members.
The Summerhill Ladies are
Mrs. Luther of Hensall led
the Christian Women's Club
song service on Sunday evening
in the chapel, with Mr. Luther
providing the organ accom-
paniment for the hymn sing.
June Campbell played several
accordian solos and Mrs. Gwen
Whilsmith led the devotional
period, illustrating the bible
story with coloured slides.
Monday's program had an
Irish theme, in honour of Saint
Patrick, One of the guests
the day, Mrs. Wolfe, who lives
near Dublin and plays piano
and harmonica, played for the
sing-along of Irish songs and
joined Marie Flynn, Norman
Spier and Jerry Collins for the
old tyrne music. A vocal solo
by Morgan Dalton and the
singing of Happy Birthday were
included in the afternoon's ac-
tivities, with the assistance of
the Christian Reformed volun-
teers and Mr. and Mrs. Dale.
A special Irish program was
arranged and directed on
Family Night by Mrs. Glan-
ville, who is the daughter of the
well-known stepdance teacher,
Mrs. Orville Storey of Seaforth
putting on a card party at the
hall on Friday 23 of March
(everyone welcome). It was
decided to discontinue holding
raffles at the card parties,
Marg Wright is to be hostess
for the April meeting. On lunch
and program are Jean and
Suzanne Vodden and Hazel
Watkins.
An observance test was held
by Marion Snell and won by
Jean Vodclen, Phyllis Tyndall
and Gladys Van Egmond each
read a short story, Roll call
next month is to name the
minister who married you.

singing of the Queen and
Grace,

before lunch was served.

Harry is a graduate of the
Clinton Secondary School and
a gold medal graduate in
honours geography from the
University of Western Ontario.
He is the son oaf Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Cummings of 129 Mary
Street, Clinton.
His wife Marion, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs, Eugene Lefkowitz
of New York City, has recently
completed her B.A. in French
from Clark University. She is
now working as a supply
teacher in the Ottawa secon-
dary school system.
They are now residing at 67
Cartier Street, Ottawa, On-
tario.
Her minister, Rev. W,D. Jar-
vis, conducted the service at the
funeral home and at the
graveside in Bayfield Cemetery.
The pallbearers were two
nephews, Arthur and Ross
Smale; two grandsons, Bryan
and Blaine Stephenson, and
two neighbours Gordon John-
son and Hermon Foster.

The Boman Unit of U,C.W.
held their meeting on Monday
March nth at 2 p.m. at the
home of Mrs. G. Robinson.
President Ena Howatt opened
meeting with a reading on the
theme 'The Church in your
home. A Hymn, '0 Worship the
King was sung. Scripture was
read by Mrs. B. Wood and
meditation and prayer by Mrs,
E. Howatt.
The treasurers . report was
given by treasurer, Mrs. E.
Wood and minutes of the last
meeting were read by secretary
Mrs. B. Shobbrook, Correspon-
dence included Thank you's
from Arie Duizer and Ted
Fothergill. There was
discussion on "no smoking"
signs to be put up in the church.
Mrs. Dave Anderson will be
in charge of the April study
period. Roll call was answered
by 10 members and three
visitors and the collection and
Birthday Pennies were
received. Mrs. Howatt read the
Psalmist song and all repeated
the Lord's Prayer in unison.
The Study period was taken
by Mrs. Bert Shobbrook with
theme "of one blood." She read
a verse "The World is one"
Mrs. Ted Flunking then
showed pictures taken in India
by Maxine Flunking. Mrs.
Shobbrook thanked her and
closed the meeting with prayer.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Fair-
service and Mrs, E. Howatt
assisted by Mrs. Robinson.
WI MEETING
The Women's Institute held
their Family Relationship
meeting with conveners Mrs.
Tom Druizer and Mrs, Don
Buchanan, in the hall on Wed-
nesday night March 14th at 8
p.m.
The president, Mrs. Eric An-
derson, opened the meeting
with a poem "Signs of Spring',
the opening Ode, Mary Stewart
Collect and 0 Canada with
Mrs. Edwin Wood at the piano.
Roll call was answered by
telling how many children and
grandchildren you have.
The minutes of last meeting
were read and Darrell Shob-
brook ,gave several ,accordian
numbers. The financial report
was given and correspondence
included Thank you's from
Mrs. Arie Duizer, Ted
Fothergill, Mrs. Bob Dalton, a
letter on 'Save the Jail', and a
letter from the Auburn In-
stitute to attend a work shop
on parliamentary procedures in
Auburn on March 29th.
The executive meeting will be
held on April 4th at 1:30 at St.
Helens. It was moved to send
$25. to the Clinton Hospital
Auxiliary for membership dues.
It was also moved that the
price of catering he raised $2.25
for turkey and $2.75 for beef.
The Sunshine Sister Banquet
will he March 28th. Mrs. Ena
Howatt reported on the
Hospital Auxiliary meeting and
will attend the April meeting.
The committee to plan next
months card parties are Elma
Jewitt, Alma Tyndall and Vi
Burns. The April meeting will
be a quiz on the Handbook and
the annual meeting.
Mr. Heath local Director
on the staff of C.A.S. Goderich,
was the guest speaker, "where
are the children"? A question
and answer period followed.
Mrs. Don Buchanan thanked
him and presented a gift to
him,
The motto "the talented
many" was prepared by Mrs.
Tom Duizer and Mrs. Tom
Allen entertained with piano
selections and a melody of Irish
Waltzes,
Mrs. Eric Anderson closed
the meeting with a poem "Hap-
piness makes anything"
followed by the Queen and W,I.
Grace, A lovely lunch was ser-
ved by Mrs. Fairservice, Mrs.
Jones, Mrs. Robinson and Mrs.
Gordon Radford.
W,I, PARTY
The Women's Institute held
a very successful card party on
Friday night with 18 tables in
play. Winners were; ladies
high, Mrs. Joe Shaddick; lone
hands, Mrs. Bert Shobbrook;
low, Mrs. Clair Vincent Sr.;
men's high, Mr. Cunningham;
lone hands, Nelson Lear; low,
Neil Cartwright. The draws
were won by Mrs. Louise John-
ston, Mrs. Eric Anderson, Mrs,
Norman Wright and Mac
Sewers. There were two lucky
cups won by Mrs. Ed Brooks
and Mrs. Les Reid,
There will be another card
party on March 30th at 8 p.m,

Due to the stormy weather
over the weekend church was
cancelled Sunday morning,
Congratulations to Mrs. Lily
Webster who celebrated her
86th birthday on March 19th.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Duizer on the arrival
of their daughter Shannon
Leigh in Clinton hospital on
March 17th a sister for Laurel,
Lisa and Stephen.
Mrs. Frank John.ton was a
patient in Clinton Hospital last
week.
Rev, McDonald and Ian
Hulley wont to Toronto on
Friday and visited with Mr.
Lloyd McCluskie a patient in
Toronto general Hospital and
attended the sports show in the
evening.
Mrs. Mac Hodgert, Kirkton,
spent Tuesday with her mother
Mrs, Ena Howatt,
Mrs. Allan Shaddick and
Lloy are enjoying a tour in the
United States during the March
holiday.
Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn
Datema left for Holland on
Thursday to visit relatives for
the March holiday.
Miss Sandy Scott of Barrie
was a weekend guest of Miss
Joan Howatt. They returned to
Weston University on Sunday
night.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rad-
ford, London, Mr. and Mrs.
John .Laurie, Robbie and Jen-
nifer, Kitchener, visited their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Thompson on Friday night and
went to Toronto on Saturday to
visit their Aunt. Robbie and
Jennifer remained for the
weekend.
Mr. and Mrs, Leonard Cald-
well spent last week in Toronto
visiting their daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Marzano, Candace
and Glen.
Greg Andrews, Toronto is
spending the holidays with his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.

Mr. Harry Cummings and his
wife Marion have just returned
from a two month combined
honeymoon and business trip to
southeast Asia. The couple
visited Japan, Indonesia, the
Philippines, Hong Kong,
Singapore, Thailand and
Turkey. Harry is a Program
Officer in the Social Sciences
Division for the International
Development Research Centre
at Ottawa. He is a co-ordinator
of a plan to aid the squatters
outside some of the major cities
in this part of the world. The
research will serve as material
for his dissertation, Phd degree
in geography and regional plan-
ning from Clark University in
Massachusetts,
They found it difficult to
adapt to the changing climates
and were frequently eating or
sleeping at the wrong times, but
both enjoyed and appreciated
the hospitality of the people.

(Isabella) Hill, who passed
away at her late residence on
Senior Street, Exeter early
Thursday morning, March 8,
1973 after a period of indif-
ferent health,
The deceased was born in
1896 in Hibbert Township the
daughter of the late John
Smale and Elizabeth Fell,
In 1919 Isabella May Smale
was married to Wm R.
Stephenson and lived on the
home farm on Parr Line in
Stanley township until retiring
to Hensall in 1951. Mr.
Stephenson passed away in
1959. In 1962 she married D.
Ivan Hill and lived in Simcoe
until moving to Exeter in 1967.
Mrs. Hill was a member of
Caven Presbyterian Church
Exeter and took a very active
interest in church work when

mother's footsteps with classes
in Brussels and Mitchell.
Nelson Howe, of Staff, with
violin, accompanied at the
piano by Marie Flynn of Clin-
ton, played for the dancers and
played a melody of old tyrne
and Irish favourites. Dancers
included the Steppers Five
from Brussels, Brenda
Chamley, Mary Ann Benard,
'Wendy Adams, Laurie Elliott
' and Karen McLean, There
were individual dances by
Vanda Storey, Ted Elliott, and
the Irish Washerwoman by
Sherri Storey and Vicky Ben-
newies. Marlene and Valerie
Glanville played guitar and
sang some popular numbers,
with the appreciation of the
residents for the program, ex-
pressed by Mrs. Ryan,
Members of the Clinton Kinet-
tes and their families visited
the Home on Friday morning to
honour their adopted Grand-
parents on Saint Patricks.
Lunch was served by the girls
in the ground floor north
