meeting recently in the absence
of the Noble Grand, Mrs. Irene
Blackwell. Mrs, Myrtle Orr
R.S.V.G. assisted Mrs. Volland.
An invitation was received
from Moncton Star Rebekah
Lodge to their celebration being
held in Atwood Community
Centre April 27. Mrs. Volland
reported for the visiting com-
mittee.
Final arrangements were
made to observe the 24th an-
niversary of the Lodge and the
birthday of Schyler Colfax on
March 7, when members will
attend a dinner at the Commer-
cial Hotel followed by a
program at the Lodge Hall.
OBITUARY
Miss Agnes E. McEwan,
Hensall, passed away at
Alexandra Marine Hospital,
Goderich, February 27, 1973 in
her 91st year.
She is survived by a sister,
Flora, in Hollywood, Califor-
nia, as well as several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral service was held
from the Bonthron Funeral
Chapel, Hensall, March 1, 1973
with Rev. W. Jarvis officiating.
Interment was in Hensall
Union Cemetery.
The first meeting of Clinton
VII was held on Feb 19. It was
decided that the next meeting
would be on Feb. 26 at Gib-
bings. The office bearers are as
follows: president, Jean
Falconer; vice-president, Nancy
Gibbings; press secretary, Betty
Veenstra.
At our second meeting, Mary
Gibbings, our leader, showed us
how to adjust patterns. Our
third meeting is to be held on

League bowling in Clinton is
rapidly approaching the play-
offs and many teams are vying
for last minute play-off spots.
In the Ladies' Afternoon
League, Giddy-Up-Go lead the
rush to the wire with 68 points,
followed by Alley Cats with 59,
Mad Caps with 51 and After-
noon Flyers with 47. Jean
Smith had the high single of
316, Erma Hartley had the
high triple of 672 and Gerry
Harris had the high average of
215.
Seldy's Sumacs continue to
lead the Tuckersmith Mixed
league with 100 points,
followed by Cliff's Chesnuts
with 89; Bob's Birches with 69;
Wally's Willows, 65; Ed's Elms
60; and Joost's Junipers, 59.
Jo-Ann Hayman had both the
ladies' high single of 259 and
the high triple of 680. On the
men's side, Dave Triebner had
the high single of 288, while
Mel Graham had the high
triple of 702.
In Bill's Men's League, the
Godfathers continue to have
their own way with 47 points,
followed by the Colts with 30,
the Unpredictables with 27 and
the Out of Towners trail with 7.
Harold Black had both the
men's high single of 302 and
the high triple of 724,
Labatt's Blue seem of have
sown up the lead in the Crown
Teen League with 101 points,
followed by Les Etoiles with 80,
Deep Purple with 72, Coconut's
Crew with 69 and Bloomers
with 61. Karen Brandon had
both the girl's high single of
238 and the high triple of 607.
Bob Atkinson had the boy's
high single of 292, while Bev
Bromley had the high triple of
697.
In Bill's Mixed League,
Team Two are still out front
with 92 points, followed by
Team Three with 82, Team
Four with 76 and Team One
with 58. In the women's sec-
tion Edna Elliott had the high
single of 213, Edith Falconer
had the high triple of 559 while
Sheila Keys had the high
average of 177. Don Switzer
had the high single of 267 and
the high average of 223 in the
men's division, while Howie
Grealis had the high triple of
726.
Steve's Strikers still retain a
slim lead in the Clinton Crown
Y.B.C. Junior League with 82
points. In second spot is the
Strikouts with 79. The top two
are followed by Kelly's Heroes
and Alley Dusters with 74;
Wipeouts, 64; Wildcats and
Tornadoes, 63 and Crown
Royals, 61. Pat Harris had the
girl's high single of 204, while
Donna Strong had the high
double of 361. In the boy's
side, Pete Wise had the high
single of 231 and Alex Harrett
had the high double of 417.
In the Londesboro Ladies
League, Jump-N-Beens lead the
way by a wide margin with 106
points to second place Jelly
Beens, who have collected 85.
Mixed Beens have 81 and In-B-
Tweens trail with 50 points.
Nancy Roy swept all the honors
with the high single of 338, the
high triple of 827 and the high
average of 203.
Macks are still driving down
front in the Londesboro Men's
League with 96 points, while
Kenworths and Auto Cars are
tied for second with 71 each.
Whites are pulling up the rear
with 70. Glen Carter had both
the high single of 328 and the
high triple of 849. Cliff Saun-
dercock still has the high
average of' 217.
In the Clinton-Blyth Ladies
League, Sea Monkeys lead the
way with 51 points, followed by
Road Runners with 46;
Laughing Hyenas, 39; The
Pacers, 38; North Stars, 36 and
Hot Shots, 30. Susan Howson
had the high single of 293,
Joyce Taylor had the high
triple of 707 and Mary Davey
had the high average of 208.
The regular season is over in
the Molson's Crown Mixed
league and the top three raced
right down to the wire, The
Crown Jewels ended on top
with 97 points, a slim margin
over The Goldens and Hi-Jinx
who tied for second with 95,

Sixty people attended the
World Day of Prayer Service
celebrated this year in St.
Paul's Anglican Church, Hen-
salt, last Friday afternoon.
Mrs. G.A. Anderson presided
along with the following ladies
from the fellow Churches: Mrs.
Earl Rowe, Mrs. Ron Mock,
Mrs. Russel Erratt, and Mrs.
Wm. Mickle from the United
Church; Mrs. G. Schwalm, Mrs.
John Baker, Mrs. Edith Bell,
Mrs. Malcolm Dougall from the
Presbyterian Church; and Mrs.
Marg Cole and Mrs. Jack Brin-
tnell from Chiselhurst United;
and Mrs. Frank Forrest, Mrs.
R.H. Middleton, Mrs. Derwood
Windover from St. Paul's
Anglican.
The introductory music was
played by Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Forrest, and each of the ladies
had a leader from their group,
with the congregation reading
all the responses. Mrs. Edith
Bell and Mrs. Malcolm
Dougall sang a duet entitled
"In times like these", accom-
panied at the organ by Mrs. F.
Forrest. Mrs. Rachel Schwalm
introduced the guest speaker
for the afternoon, Mrs. Eric
Luther, who spoke on "Alert in
our Time" and "Spirit of
God". She spoke of her
favourite hymn "Breathe on me
breath of God", which was
sung by everyone, Mrs. R.H.
Middleton and Mrs. Derwood
Windover acted as ushers and
took up the offering. The
meeting closed with the ,hymn
"The day thou gayest".
HENSALL UCW
Two carloads of ladies from
Hensall United Church
motored to Seaforth last Wed-
nesday and attended the
United Church Women
Christian Development Day at
Northside United Church. The
theme for the day was "A light
for Christian Development".
The guest speaker was Mrs.
Patricia Clarke, who writes for
the United Church Observer.
Mrs. R Dinney and Mrs. G.
Sereda sang a medley of
beautiful duets, all of which ad-
ded very much to the claY's ac-
tivities.
SUNDAY SERVICE
At the Sunday morning ser-
vice of worship in Hensall
United Church, the celebration
of the Lord's Supper took
place. Rev. Don Beck preached
on the sermon topic "A Double
sacrament of Life". The choir
sang the anthem "Charity"
with Gail Travers taking the
solo part. Sandra Elizabeth
Shroeder, transferred from
another congregation, and
