reports indicate that Huron has
the most improved farm land
and the largest inventory value
of livestock and poultry of any
county in Ontario.
- Huron is first in production
of white beans, barley, silage
corn; second in total cattle and
marketings; third in forage
crops rind total hogs.
In the last decade, barley
acreage has increased from
6,509 acres to 45,700 acres
(700% ); grain corn 10,028 acres
to 79,446 acres (790% ); silage
corn 18,004 acres to 40,030
acres (270% ); white beans
21,359 acres to 44,000 acres.
(250% ),
In the same period, oats have
declined from 68,143 acres
down to 14,668 acres (decrease
450% ). Acreages of hay and
pasture crops have declined in
favor of barley, white beans
