The standings in girls' house league are as follows: Pluto, with ten points, Saturn with eight, Mars with four and Jupiter with two points. On Tuesday, February 10, the Blyth boys' and girls' volleyball teams visited Lon- desboro, Hullett teams did very well, the boys winning twice, 15-0 and 15-6, and the girls winning twice, 15-7 and 15-5, In exhibition volleyball, the teachers of Hullett Centre took on first the girls' team and then the boys' , in games played on Friday, February 16. The teachers had no problems with the girls, defeating them 15-7, but time ran out in the game with the boys, The score was 15-14, for the boys' team, The other pupils of the school could attend the games for an ad- mission of five cents. Proceeds went to Junior Red Cross. ti MEET THE TEACHER Miss Donalda Adams Miss Donalda Adams was born in Hullett Township, Lot 12, Concession 7. She and her only brother, who now lives in Winnipeg, spent elementary school days at S.S. 3, Hullett, after which they attended Seaforth District High School. Miss Adams attended Toronto Teachers' College. She has been a Kindergarten teacher in Clinton Public School, The Department of National Defence, R.Q.A,F, Centralia, in Sarnia arid now continues her career at Hullett Central where she is now in her fourth year. Residing on North Main Street, in Seaforth, she enjoys many types of .crafts-oil pain- ting, making rugs. She is an antique collector, 'and also en- joys flower .gardening, travelling and caring for her three registered dogs - two Pekinese and one German Shepherd. She is an active lady, and is well liked by the whole school. PUBLIC. SPEAKING On Friday afternoon, February 16, the Royal Canadian Legion Public Speaking Contest was held in the school auditorium. The judges were Mrs. Doreen Rad- ford, Londesboro, Mr. Keith Roulston, editor of the Blyth Standard, and Mr. Wheeler, from Goderich District High School. Winners of the Senior contest - Grades 7 And 49 were: first, Kern.i Medd, grade 7; second. Brian Trewartha and third,, 'Madelyn Sewers. Winners of the Junior contest grades 4, 5 and 6, were; first Judy Carter , grade 5; second, Betty Konarski and third, Cathy Gibbings. The first two winners in each division will go on to a further contest, to be held February 28. On Monday, February 19, Mr. Knisley, from Goderich, representing the Red Cross Youth, visited Mrs. Livingston's Grade 5 class, to talk to them about how Red Cross operates. Among other things, he explained where money contributed to Red Cross goes, and also gave reasons why Red Cross should be supported. Grade Five's project for February has been to cover a valentine with dimes. They raised a total of ten dollars, which was presented to the Red Cross, SPORTS On Wednesday, February 21, Chicago played Montreal in floor hockey. Chicago won by the score of 9-0. Steven Reid led scoring with (4X four goals, while David Lear had three And Mervin Taylor two). VOLLEYBALL House League: In girls' houseleague action, on Friday. February 23, Saturn defeated Jupiter by the score of 10-4, On Monday, February 26, Pluto defeated Saturn by a 13-7 score, In bone houseleague, the Leaves were declared champions, defeating the. Brunes twice, 15-3, and 15.4; Teams, on Thursday, February 22, the Londesboro teams visited Blyth, to play volleyball against their teams. Each team played three games, with both the girls' team and the boys' team winning two• out of three games against their opponents,. TOURNAMENT ACTION On Saturday, February 24, Londesboro volleyball teams took part in a tournament, at Vanastra, in which teams from Blyth, Clinton, Seaforth, Holmesville and Brucefield schools also took part, Hullett's teams brought home both trophies the boys win- ning theirs in ten games straight, the girls winning theirs in eleven games, having lost only one game.
