The Kincardine team were OMHA champions last year and were extended to their limit in what their supporters maintained was the best game of the tournament. Mike Gibbings opened the scoring on a three way play with Dave Colquhoun and Rob Heard: Paul Priestap converted a Dave Counter pass to make it 2-0 and created much gloom in the Kincardine Arena. However, the home team rebounded with three goals to take a short-lived lead. Clinton tied the scare as Neil Colquhoun finished off a pretty pass from linemates Priestap. and Counter. Before the end of On December 23, the Clinton Colts travelled to Listowel and downed the Jets 11-5, Five dif- ferent players accounted two goals each. Bud Boyes, Butch Fleet, Rick Fremlin, Don MacDougall and Ken Daer each scored a pair of goals for the Colts, while Laurie Colquhoun added the other. The Colts caught the Jets sleeping in the first period and scored eight unanswered goals. This game extended the Colts unbeaten streak to four games. In Lucknow last Friday night, the Colts' streak came to a halt. The Lucknow Sepoys squeaked by the Colts 5-4. Playing before a good crowd in Lucknow, the Colts led 3-2 after the first but were tied 3-3 after the second and then the Sepoys outscored them two to one in the final period. Because SAUSAG ES REGULAR OR GERMAN the second period, Priestap put Clinton ahead 4-3 converting a Colquhoun pass. The lead stpod until midway through the third period when Kincardine tied it. They then won the game with about two minutes remaining. A short session of six Clinton attackers failed to alter the 5.4 score, To reach finals at Kincar- dine, Clinton defeated Durham Thursday afternoon by a 7-5 score with Mike Gibbings and Neil Colquhoun getting two each and Paul Priestap getting the other marker. Thursday evening, Chesley provided stiff opposition and a tie resulted after regulation *time. Priestap got two goals and Heard, Gibbings and Clynick each got one. The tie was decided by each team taking three penalty shots and of weather conditions, the game was delayed 30 minutes in beginning. Colt scorers were Ken Daer, Don Bartliff, Don MacDougall and "Joe" Liver- more. The Colts outplayed the Sepoys but had no luck around the opposition's net. Ken Meriam had seemed to tie the game late in the third period but the referees declined the goal as they said Meriam knocked it in with his skate. The Colts' next home game is this Friday night when they face the same Lucknow Sepoys at 8:30 p.m. A good home crowd would be appreciated by the Colts. Then Sunday afternoon, the Colts journey to Milverton to play the Four-Wheel Drives at 2 p.m. The fan support at away games has been inspiring. while Bob Harkes beat the Chesley goalie each time, while Mike Gibbings got the winning goal. On Saturday December 23, Clinton beat Goderich 7-5 in Goderich to remain undefeated in Zone play. Neil Colquhoun led the way with four goals and Rob Heard scored two while Mike Gibbings picked up the other Clinton marker. The Fish and Game Bantams played in Grand Bend in Zurich Tuesday and are at home to Mitchell Saturday night. They go to Watford on Sunday for the opening of the Silver Stick Tournament, meeting Mooretown at 11:30 a. m, Tough month for 'Stangs The Clinton Mustangs exten- ded their winning streak to two games with a commendable 10- 5 win over the Lucan Irish last Friday night in Clinton. Clinton are now tied with Lambeth for sixth spot in the league with 15 points, eight away from second place Mit- chell who have 23. Exeter Hawks are runaway leaders with 31 points. Exeter's only loss in 17 .league games this season came at the hands of Clinton, Clinton scored first in the opening frame Friday night and never looked back as Mike An- stett collected Clinton's first three goals to take a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes. Clinton scored four goals in the second period to Lucan's two to take a 7-3 lead. Mustang marksmen were Johnson with a pair and one each by Millar and Graham. Colquhoun, Petrie and Ken- nedy each collected a goal for Clinton in the final 20 minutes while Lucan only picked up two goals. The game turned into a rough checking affair as Clin- ton collected 12 penalties in- cluding two misconducts, while Lucan was assessed 9 minors. The Mustangs take on their arch rivals from Mit- chell four times and the league leading Hawks twice. Next game is this Friday night (Jan. 5) when the Mustangs travel to Exeter to do battle with a talented Hawk team. Clinton is home this Sun- day night when the Hawks visit for an all important game.
