Pastor Alfred Fry led in a carol sing of Christmas hymns with Miss ' Nancy Anderson as organist, Mr, Hallam welcomed the large crowd and the service was opened by singing "Joy to the World". Mr. Ronald Snell of Westfield read the scripture esson, the Christmas story as old in the Gospel of St. Luke. A duet- "Christmas Night, oly Night", was sung by isses Lorraine Chamney and oris Naylor. A reading- "A hristmas Jewel" was given by . James Towe of the nglican Church, Prayer was ffered by Mr. Frank Raithby f the Goderich Baptist Church nd the offering was received y Mr. Torrance Tabb and Mr. urray Rollinson. A solo was ung by Mrs. Celia Taylor ac- companied on the piano by Miss Doris Naylor, A solo was sung by Miss Margaret Roberts of Alma College, St, Thomas, whose home is in the Argen- tine. Miss Janette Snell of West- field gave a travelogue and showed pictures of her recent trip to the Holy Land. She outlined the trip and showed her pictures from the time she left on the tour on November 13 until she arrived home. She closed by quoting the poem- "God is so good to me". After singing the hymn "Silent Night, Holy Night", Pastor Alfred Fry pronounced the benediction. The treasurer of the Auburn Branch, Mrs. Beth Lansing stated that total contributions from this area was $414.57. Winner of the free cake and casserole at Robinson's general store was Mrs. Roy Deer. Other, winners during the Christmas season were Miss Marie Plunkett, Mrs. Cora McGill, Beigrave and Mr. Elmer Trom- mer. The roll call was an, swered by seven members and two visitors. Thank-you notes were read from Mr. and Mrs, Casey Verwey, Mrs. Lloyd Pen- found and Mrs. Thomas Cuo- ningharn. The draw prize, which had been donated by Mrs. Henry flunking, was won by Mrs, Walter Cunningham. Plans were made for the January meeting to be held on Thursday January 25 at the home of Mrs. Garth McClinchey. The program to be in charge of Mrs. Ronald Gross and Mrs. Arie Duizer. The lunch committee is to be Mrs. Walter Cunningham and Mrs. Thomas Cun- ningham. The roll call is to be answered by buying a' ticket on a hand hooked rug made by a member, Mrs. Ted Hunking and her son, Bobby showed pictures on India which were very educational and interesting. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Ted flunking assisted by her daughters. AUBURN NEWS Knox United Church Junior Sunday school held their an- nual Christmas concert with Pastor Alfred Fry as chairman, Miss Lorraine Chamney presided at the piano when Pastor Fry led in the singing of Christmas carols. A welcome song by the Beginner's class was followed by a recitation by Tasha Cunningham- "Its almost time," Janice Daer gave a recitation- No Choice.' The nursery class, "To decorate a Christmas Tree", was followed by all singing "Away in a Manger". Glenyce McClinchey sang a solo "Silent Night". A play entitled- "The Perfect Christmas Gift" was given and Janice Daer gave a reading "A letter to Santa Claus." After the Beginner's class gave "Nine Letters to spell Christmas" a piano solo was t played by , Rodney Cun- Iningham. This was followed by a duet by Kelly and Rodney Cunningham. Primary One gave "Our Wish" and Primary two gave a play called "The Shepherd that didn't Go". The girls of Primary One gave "Jesus Bir- thday Party" and the closing recitation was given by Angela Schneider. The senior members of the SUnday School enjoyed an ad- ded feature for the Christmas season when they gathered on Saturday evening and enjoyed a presentation of a Disney film entitled "Jungle Book". Before the showing of the film, Mrs. Brian Hallam led in the singing of Christmas carols with Doris Naylor at the piano. Lunch was served at the close. On Sunday morning, a Christmas family service was held both at Donnybrook and Knox United churches. At Don- nybrook, Mrs. James Leddy assisted Pastor Alfred Fry in the reading of scripture passages and prayers. In Knox Church, Daryl and Daryk Ball were in the pulpit with the Pastor and read passages of scripture relating to the Christ- mas story. Miss Nancy Ander, son sang a solo and the large choir under the direction of Mrs. Norman Wightman the organist - sang an anthem, Miss Nancy Anderson was at the piano. Many friends home for the holidays helped to swell the large congregation in both churches. Christmas day guests with Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock were Mr. George Collins of Strat- ford, Mr. and Mrs. John Menheers, Stephen, David and Paul of R.R. 1 Dublin, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nicholson and Gary of Seaforth, Mr. and Mrs. John Bennett of Seaforth, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Bennett and Jim of R.R, 6 Goderich, Miss Jill Bennett of Toronto, Miss Jackie Coilinson, Kintail, Mr. Ronald Hallam of R,R. 3 Auburn Mr. and Mrs. John Stadelmann and Christine of R.R. 1 Blyth. Mrs. Celia Taylor spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rathwell Michael and Janice at London. Mr. Robert Daer and his niece Miss Sharon Jackson of Mitchell spent Christmas at Lakewood, California with the former's sister Mrs. Robert Siler, Mr. Siler and family. Mr, and Mrs. Frank Raithby spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Vincent and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Arthur and family spent New Year's Day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Keller at Dublin, Mr. William J. Graig and Mr. and Mrs. Maitland Allen were Christmas Day guests with Mr. and Mrs. William S. Craig and family in their new home in Clinton. It was also Mr. and Mrs. Allen's 59 wedding an- niversary. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Adams of Clinton and Mr. and Mrs. Don Jardine of St. Marys were Christmas Day guests with Mrs. Beth Lansing. Mr, and Mrs, Allan McDougall of Sudbury 'spent the holiday with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McDougall. Mr, and Mrs, Andrew Kirk- commit and Miss Diane Kirk- 'connell of London were holiday guests with their daughter, Mrs. Louis Blake. Mr. Blake and Misses Faye and Mary Anne Blake at Brussels. On Monday Pastor and Mrs, Fry were in London, to be with their daughter, husband and grandchildren for the day. Miss Carol Beadle of Kit- chener is holidaying at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beadle. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mills spent the holiday at Mississauga with their family, Mr. and Mrs. James Towe spent the holiday with their family in London, We are sorry to report that Mrs. Fred Wagner is a patient in Clinton Hospital, we wish her a speedy recovery. Mr, William Trommer and his sister Miss Connie Trom- mer visited friends in Kit- chener last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hamilton spent the weekend with friends in Toronto. Mr. Michael Rathwell and Miss Janice Rathwell of Parkhill spent last week with their grandmother, Mrs, Celia Taylor, Mrs. Glen Youngblut, Jen- nifer and John of Ottawa spent several days last week with his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Munro. ;Obituary: Funeral services were held on December 26, 1972 for Mrs, John Snell who passed away in Clinton hospital on December 23, 1972. She was the former Barbara Jane McCabe and the widow of the late John Snell. She had resided most of her life on the tenth concession of Hullett Township. She was in her 76 year, She was a member of the Londesboro United Church. She is survived by two sons, Jack and Raymond of Hullett Township, three daughters, Mrs, Robert (Helen) Heuton of Windsor, Mrs. Robert (Elva) Peck of Zurich and Mrs. Ray (Betty) Fisher of Colborne Township, 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also one brother, Hugh of Goderich Township and two sisters, Mrs. Claude (Jean) Collins of Windsor and Mrs. Jack (Ella) Sproul of London. Rev. Stanley McDonald of Londesboro United Church conducted the services with burial in Blyth Union cemetery. Pallbearers were Elgin Josling, Len Radford, Lloyd Pipe, Clare Vincent, Harry Lear and Alvin Volk. Flowerbearers were gran- dsons, Douglas Fisher, Wayne Peck Larry Snell, Robb Snell, Brian Peck and Rick Snell.
