Bond conducted a quiz on the mission work of the United Churdi: its scope and character and the part the UCW have tin carrying out its share in it, both at home and abread, Many little known facts were brought out during the question and answer period. Mi's. Carter, unit leader, opened the business part with prayer. The ad­ dress is now on file. z The joint thanlc-offering com­ mittee of the UCW of both Ont­ ario Street and Wesley-Willis Churches have arranged for a Sunday evening service in Wes­ ley-Willis Church for April 23, Speaker will be the Rev. G.,. Winch with music by'the Cen­ tennial Youth Cholir. A dainty Valentine lunch was ■served during the social period ; with Mrs. Armstrong and Mrs. C. Bantiff with sixteen Starlight Circle The, February meeting of the Starlight Circle was-held at the home of Mrs, Jim Cox, Mrs.' Bob McDonald opened with a Lenten thought, “Priorities”. Several passages from St, Luke were relad by Mrs. E. Cooper and Mrs. A. Wise, Mrs. Cooper led in prayer. Thirteen members answered the roll call with a supper dish -recipe. Two guests’ were pre-x sent. Mrs. Don Jefferson was-nom­ inated-social convener. * Members agreed to have “Hobo Teas” up until the next' unit meeting, March 13. Mrs. .Ron Nielsen reported 12. visit­ ing calls were made during the month of January.’ Guest speaker, Mrs. Daisy Holland was introduced by Mrs. G. Wise. She gave a most in­ teresting talk on the study book “Church and the World”. On hand to make the presentation was Alex Thompson, Provincial Boy Scout Field Execu­ tive from Meaford. Wo-He-Lo■ ....................... ■ ■ .Twenty-three ladies enjoyed the Wo-He-Lo meeting. The program planned by Mrs. K. ,S. Wood assisted by Mrs. Stewart; Mrs. Haddiy and Mrs. H. Adams took the form of a Valentine Tea with a Centennial theme throughout the program.' Coal­ oil lamps were burning. Antique dishes of members were used to serve the lunch arid some an­ tique articles were on display. An article “The Divided and the Divisive Churches of 100 Years Ago” from the Centennial issue of “The Observer” was read by Mrs. Wood. She told of the many little? divided sections of the churches which gradually became .the churches' of today. Mrs. 'Stewart chose a chapter on “Clinton” from James Scott’s book “The Settlement of Huron County” with many interesting historical events in the settling 'of the town of Clinton. It was .such a booming town in the year 1880 —/ many industries and mills, hotels, churches. The worship 'Service was tak­ en from the Psalm of Hope, Psalm 130 read by Mrs. Adams with meditation by Mrs. Stew­ art. ‘ Special music was enjoyed by two' visitors from Brucefield, Mrs. McGregor and Miss Mc­ Queen. Mr. and Mrs. George C. Hen­ derson, Brucefield celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Haines City- Tourist Club in Florida on Valentine’s Day. The couple spend elach winter at their winter home* in Minerva Park, Haines City, Florida. The couple wore corsages sent- to them by theiir children, John W. Henderson, Brucefield; Clif-^ ford Henderson, RR 3, Clinton; an# Mrs. William (Wonnetta)' Holland, RR 4, Clinton. A neph­ ew, Myron Henderson, Tham.es- ford, sent a floral table centre­ piece to his aunt and uncle to mark the • occasion.
