Most Outstanding Midget Player Last Thursday evening, Stewart Mustard, right, was picked as the first star in the regular schedule game between Listowel and Clinton mid­ gets in WOAA “B” series. He is being presented with the Don Yeo Memorial Trophy by John Yeo, father of the late Don Yeo who was a star in Minor Hockey Day games in 1964 and 1965, The, trophy goes to the Clinton player in the oldest age group participating in Clinton’s annual minor hockey 'Weekend. The Clinton Legion midgets lost 8-5 to Listowel. Clinton. New York Bantam Team Beats'Park; Loses to Town Boys The bantam hockey team from Clinton, New York, split their two games on Saturday during Minoa’ Hockey Weekend here, but gave a good display of hockey after travelling the 380 miles the day before. In the last game of the tliree- dlay tournament on Saturday evening, the Clinton Fish and Game bantams defeated their guests from New York State by an 8-4 score. The N.Y. team ■had beaten the Adastral Park team at Canadian Forces Base Clinton arena on Saturday; morning by a 5-3 score. Clinton, N.Y., coached by Doh Foley, held the Clinton town team to a 3-3 score at the end of the first period but faded in the next two frames; the Fish and Game boys added three in the second and two in the third to only one from the visitors. Bob Dangille was the only Clinton, Ont. player to get more than one goal. Other local scor­ ers were Mark Jenkins, Wayne Cantelon, Glen Irwin, Terry MacDonald, Ricky May ‘ and Brian Edgar. Doug Exley scored two for the visitors, both on assists from Doug Schreppel. Other scorers were Dave Burns and Dave Peach. The J. D. Clinton, N.Y. 5 — Adastral Park 3 At 10 o’clock Saturday morn­ ing the visiting Clinton, N.Y. bantams got their first taste of competition in this area' and came up with a 5-3 Victory over Adastral Park. Clinton scared all their five goals in the third period after trailing the Can­ adian Forces Base- team 3-0. Nick Bums and Doug Schrep- pel scored’ two each and Dave Peach got the last one. There was no scoring in the first period. Kim Pratt and Ken Prest scored for Adastral Park in the second and Pratt got his second goal early in the third period. The high scores of 9-3 and. 13-2 were not of the play. Both team® showed excellent coaching, playing their positions well, First Game On Friday evening before the- largest- crowd of’ the three-day hpckey weekend, Paul Anstett led the local ponies with three goals, Brian Langille got two and Mike Anstett, Ball Cantelon, Paul Kelly and Barry Edgar, one each. The visitors goals were scored by Don Hawthorne With two and John Hameline, one. John’s father Bill Hameline is coach of the Clinton, N.Y, team, Paul Kelly was possibly the best boy on’ the ice, but was only able to score one despite his many excellent rushes. Mait Edgar is coachof the Clinton Kinsmen team and Bert Clifford, manager. ‘ /' ; Saturday’s Game In the second, game between the two Clinton’s peewees on Saturday evening/ a visiting ’player, centreman Don Haw­ thorne was picked as the out­ standing player of the game and received the Ball-Macaulay Limited trophy. The Clinton Kinsmen put up a new trophy for the second star and this went to Barry Edgar". Hawthorne and Hameline were again the scorers far Clin- Dearborn Loses 1*0 Decision To Clinton Team Representing Dearborn, Mich, far the eighth consecutive year at Clinton Manar Hockey Week­ end, the St. Sebastian Dad’s dub team from St. Sebastian Catholic School lost the closest game of the weekend — a 1-0 decision — to Clinton Fish and Game bantams. Gary Cummings scored the only goto of the game at 3:33 of the first period, on a pass from Gordbn Lavis. . By the victory, ■ the Clinton team retains the Hugh R. Haw­ kins trophy far another year. First star was Robert Lan­ gille, who received the Anstett Jewellers Ltd. trophy; second star, Paul Bartliff, the K. W. The local team lost 8-5. . The visitors piled up a 7-0 lead early in the second period, then Clinton got four straight goals in the third and each team scored again in the third period. Bill Stirling scored three of Clinton’s . goals, all on assists from Bruce Schoenhals. . Clinton’s; Stewart Mustard was judged first star of the game and was awarded the Don Yeo Memorial trophy for one year. Second star’ was Glen Hammond' of Listowel who scored five goals and received the Clinton IGA store trophy. Terry Newbiggihg was third star and received the Corrie’s Red and White store trophy. Dearborn Ties Adastral Park Bantam Team . dose games plagued the visit-’ ing St. Sebastian bantam hock­ ey team from Dearborn, Mich, at Clinton’s minor hockey week­ end. After losing a 1-0 decision to Clinton bantams on Friday evening, they could only man­ age a 4-4 tie with the Adastral Park bantams on Saturday afternoon. The Adastral Park team scor­ ed in the last second of play in the third period to tie the score. Kim Pratt, who had scored two goals in a morning game with Clinton, N.Y., and already had two assists in the Dearborn game, scoring the tying goal. The teams were'lied. 1-1 at end of first, period; Adastral Park led 3-2 at end of- second, and Dearborn had scored twice early in the third. Scoring for Adastral Park were Rick Paulin with two, Doug Kennedy one and Kim Pratt scored the tying goal. Far St. Sebastian, Bruce An-, derson, Tom. Paul Kelly was the big boy for the Ponies, scoring a goal in each period. Other scorers were Barry Edgar, Danny Col­ quhoun and Paul Key. Hensall’s goal was scored by Tom Work­ man. Everyone welcome. 5b ■11 ~ Dearborn Captain Wins New Trophy Clinton jeweller John Anstett provided a new' trophy for this year’s bantam hockey game between St. Sebastian of Dearborn, Mich., and the Adastral Park bantams, played as part of Clinton’s annual minor hpckey weekend. .The Dearborn captain, Phil Beuckelaere was picked as the outstanding player of the game which ended in a 4-4 tie when Adastral Park scored in the last second of play in the third period. Th& figure should have been 65 cannisters and they had been placed in shops, garages and service cluib buildings as well as stores. The public contri­ buted $95.80 through the can­ nisters to the local firemen’s campaign for MD fund's. The total amount collected in Clin­ ton and area was $210.80.
