Senior Citizens Meet ; The Senior OjJtizens Club held thteir first meeting of the New Bayfield Council Plans Projects for This Year Bayfield Lions Club Launches Campaign RA.YFJELP.-*^ Bayfield Lions Club launched a campaign to collect' fyflds an a^dWnal. Centennial prpject, washrooms at the Arena, at their dinner meeting on Tuesday, Jan 10, A draw to be held kt the. Annual Frolic will select three, -lucky prize winners. Prizes are; ’ a Pond Lily quiltc’R Wdsprpad, donated by Mrs, Alfred Warner, a transistor radio, by Leroy Poth, and an Inglis hair dryer given by Russ. Peterson. Guest speaker at the meeting was Miss C. McGowan, Goderich Branch of the Children’s Aid Society. • , Thomas Carman Moan, rr 1, Londesboro, passed away in Clinton Public Hospital, last FiUday, January 6 after a cor- onaiy attack pne men th ago, Funeral service was from the Rail Funeral Home on Monday, January 9 with Rev.’ Tsclianz, Londesboro in Charge. The deceased Wais born on Lot 18, Concession JO of Hul- Jettt Township, a son .of Martha Tufts and George Mopn. In 1940, he was married to Agnes Cameron who survives. With hi® wife/ Mr, Moon farmed in I-IuMett Township all his life and was a member of the Unit­ ed Church at Londesfo’oro. Other survivors are four sons, Kenn'eth, Trevor, Tom and Jim; one daughter, Joan; and three sisters, Mrs- William (‘Pearl) Hamilton, Huilllett Township, Mrs, Moody (Mary) Holland, Bly th and' Mrs. Lome (Olive) Heels, Toronto, Temporary' interment was in Clinton Mausoleum wjiitih burial later in Londesboro Cemetery. Floworlbearers1 were Daye Anderson, William Grigg, Larry Walsh, Allan Caldwell, Murray Lyon and .Ricky Grigg. Considerable new road work, gravel, and continuiaJtion of the drainage projects already started received special atten­ tion. Reeve McFadden stated that he, has been 'advised that the north harbour pier rebuilding is to'start shortly. On .Sunday council will conduct a personal survey of village streets to de­ termine the need for felling trees which could be dangerous if neglected. A letter from Bayfield His­ torical Society thanking council for. a donation was read. ' Village clerk, Mrs, P. Mai- .oney was instructed to write a ■letter of thanks to Mr. and Mrs, Ray Bauer, Kitchener, for their gift of a Canadian flag which was hoisted, p-n .New Year's Day. . George Whittle had a ski hike on Sun­ day, . ■ ■ ' 1 The Troop left the village at 2 p.m. and travelled across to BrandOn’s’ Hill, then across country, over hills and through woods for approximately" eight miles, circling' back to Bay­ field River where they made a camp fire and lean-to. Bayfield Lions Project The Bayfield Lions Club believes in starting' things early/and has already launched a campaign to collect funds for an additional Centennial pro­ ject, washrooms at the arena. The poster above, drawn by Mike Maloney, advertises the project and the Lions Carnival to be held during July. Resolutions for the New Year were given in answer to the roll call of the Ixmdesboro Women’s Institute. The motto “We need' to be needed" was given by Mrs. Don Buchanan. A reading was given by .Mrs.' Durnin and material, pertaining to the Centennial, wais read by. Mrs. Pipe. Karen McEwing fav­ ored with piano instrumentals and Mrs; Tom Allen- showed pictures taken on 'their recent trip to England and Scotland'. The WI will sponsor the training of the 4-H club if lead­ ers-are available. A Penny Sale was held at the close of the meeting the hostess served lunch. The congrgation of Londes­ boro United Church will hold their annual meeting on Thurs­ day with a Pot Luck supper at 6:45 p.m. preceding the bus­ iness.
