Stewart of RR 1, Auburn, ".The room was ’ attractively decorated for the occasion and ■the tea table was centred with a, two-tiered cake topped with golden wedding bells and golden ;50’s around the cake. Guests were served by Mrs. Stewart Ament assisted by Miss ‘Frances Houston, Mrs. Thomas 'Haggitt and Shirley and Gary Ament. Many messages and cards were received by the bride and. groom of 50 years and among the gifts were a golden maga­ zine rack, cups and saucers, pots of golden munis and a .combined floor lamp and read­ ing lamp from neighbours and friends; A large1 easy chair was presented by the employees of the Huron County Road main­ tenance crew with whom Mr. Ament had worked for 14 years -until he retired. Blyth and the sur­ rounding district. -----------o----------- Auburn Couple Celebrate Their 55th Anniversary AUBURN — Mio. and Mrs. William Straughan quietly-cele­ brated their 55th wedding an­ niversary at thhir home on Goderich Street, on' December 20. In the evening about 40 neighbours and firilewds’ gather­ ed to congratulate them on their emerald anniversary. Mrs. Wes Bradnock was master of ceremonies and a lively sing-song was . led by Oliver Anderson, accompanied on the harp by JMrs. Robert J. Phillips. A reading, “For a Wedding Anniversary” was given by Mrs. Kenneth Mc­ Dougall. Mrs. Oliver Anderson pinned a corsage on Mrs. Straughan and a \boutonniere was pinned •on Mr. Straughan. Miss Mar­ garet R. Jackson read the ad-, dress of congratulations and closed with the Gaelic blessing. An emerald money tree was presented z to Mr. and Mrs. Straughan by Mrs; Robert J. Phillips. Mr. Straughan thanked everyone for the gift and rem­ inisced about this district 55 years ago. Several present spoke a few words of congratu­ lations and a dainty lunch was served by their (Daughter, Mrs, Thomas Jardin, Wingham1; Mrs. Earl Allison, Goderich, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. McDougall and Mrs. Bradnock. During the lunch hour their elder daugh­ ter, Mrs. Clayton Robertson, of Copper Cliff called! to congratu­ late her parents on their anni­ versary. During the program Mr. An­ derson called on several of the former pupils and a former teacher, now residing in Auburn, for a few 'words of reminiscence of former school days. William Straiughan had the distinction of having attend­ ed the school when it opened in 1895. Following the 'program' a social hour was enjoyed when the ladles served a delicious lunch. Later gifts and wtere distributed to' the pupils and children present.- An -engraved pendant watoh Was presented to Mrs. Beth Lansing in appreciation of her twelve years of service as tea­ cher in the school. Mrs, Rodger was presented with a gift of costume jewellery. Beginning in the New Year the pupils will attend the new Central School in Blyth. f friends. Anderson acted as for the evening. The president, Brenda East was in Charge of .the meeting which opened with, the 4-H pledge. . Leader Mrs.' W. Bradnock re­ viewed the" project with the members and all judged supper menus and tea biscuits brought to the meeting. Mrs. Frank ’Raithby assisted with the judg­ ing and' gave reasons for the placings. DOMINION TEXTILE COMPANY LIMITED I OLD AGE SECURITY PENSION The new guaranteed income supplement is a monthly payment of $30 which will be added to the present $75 Old Age Security Pension if the pensioner has no other income. , However, if the pensioner has other income but it is less than $720 a year ($60 a month) the pensioner still qualifies for a supplement but on a reduced scale depending on his other income. .., Every Old Age Security Pensioner is thus guaranteed a mini mum income of $105 a month. Married Pensioners: If both husband and wife receive the Old Age Security Pension, and have no other income, both qualify for the $30 a month supplement, assuring them a minimum of $210 a month. If married pensioners have a combined income of less than $1440 a year, not including their Old Age Security pensions, each may qualify for a supplement at a reduced rate. Application Forms: An application form and a booklet containing details of the guaranteed income supplement will be mailed to all Old Age Security pensioners during February. They will be asked to read the booklet carefully and fill in the application form at once. Married pensioners are asked that each fill in an application form and mail the two in the same envelope. Income does not include war service pensions, gifts from relatives and money from a number of other sources. A list of items not considered as income is shown on the application form and in the informa­ tion booklet. Pensioners may receive help in preparing applications by contacting the Old Age Security, Canada Pension Plan or Income Tax offices. Addresses are available in the booklet. Payment Dates: At least two months are required to deal with applications. Some pensioners will receive their supplementary payments combined with their Old Age Security pension cheques in March. Others will receive their combined payments in April. Pensioners entitled to a supplement as of Januaty 1967 will have their payments bacK-dated to January. ISSUED BY THE HON.
