of Clinton Community Credit
Union Limited, appointed Ern
est Williams a director, to fill
toe vacancy caused when
Thomas Steep resigned. Mr.
Steep, who was administrator
at Clinton Public Hospital, has
taken a similar position with a
hospital at Newbury.
. Mr, Williams was a former
director of the lo;cal credit
union when he was stationed
at. Clinton' dir force 'base. He
was transtferred to Ottawa 'from
here and to now town clerk at'
Seaforth.
Another air force person,
Donnie Chapman was appoint
ed to stihe credit committee of
the credit union. He, too, was a
former executive memibbr hav
ing served .on the public re
lations committee when on a
previous posting to Clinton. He
lived in the married quarters
at toe base.
Mr. Chapman was chairman
of the board of directors of the
Motoje, Quebec, credit union
whiile he was stationed there

Tournament
The Clinton rink of Walter
C. Newcombe, skip, and Bert
Garrett won the lawn bowling
tournament on the local greens
last Wednesday. They scored
three /wins plus 18,
'Bowling teams were present
■from Goderich, Seaforth, Wing
ham, London, Tillsonburg and
Clinton,
Second place went to John
Patterson, sklip, and William
Ball, Seaforth, with two wins
plus 18, The Wingham team of
Gordon McKay, skip, and Mal
colm 'McKay, placed third with
two wins plus 13.

guessing contest, which ended
on May 31.

ter-Perdue store on two week

ing 'blade” grass shears. Over
200 prizes were given out all
across Canada.

car, won by a West Kildbnan,
Man. man.

Harness Horse Races

Clinton Community park track
on Saturday (afternoon.
The meet will have five races
of two heats each and!, begins
at 1:30 p.m.
This to the first harness horse
race in 'Clinton since June of
J961, The Clinton Turf Club
have IxolcI regular meetings over
the years. The present officers
are, D. Bruce 'Nicholson, presi
dent; Bruce Dupee, secretary
and A. M. Knight, treasurer.
At the meet here Saturday,
H. D, "Bud” Jerry, Goderich,
■will be the presiding judge and
M. L. "Tory” Gregg, the an
nouncer. . ;
All the entries are from Wes
tern' Ontario and some of the
young horses have been racing
at 'London, Greenwood, Han
over (and Kincardine.

Bayfield Council met Mon
day, August 15.

now been repaired.
Misuse of the dump by non
residents was discussed.
Council announced grateful
acceptance of the generous gift
of a table by Mrs. R. H. F.
Galirdner; it is placed in the
village hall to be used by pre
sent and succeeding councillors.
Dead and dying treps are to
be removed so that they do not
become a public hazard.

HOLE-IN-ONE
AT BAYFIELD
Steve Hook, a teacher at
Central Huron Secondary
School, sported a hole in one
at the Bayfield-Clinton Golf
Course yesterday afternoon.
Steve just started! playing
golf this summer and 'got his
single on the 135 yard fifth
hole. His wife was with him
at the time.
This is toe first hole in one
at the popular summer resort
course in the past two years.
