Rev. E. J. B. Harrison in­ troduced Mr. Burt, who demon­ strated the versatility of a Hammond Electric organ by playing some' well-known church music, including Christmas car­ ols, Ave Maria by Schubert, also the Bach-Gounod arrange­ ment, and Ketelby’s, "In a mon­ astery garden”. • Mrs. J. B. Higgins sang “Bless this House”, accompanied by Mr. Burt on the organ. Aftei’ the redital, the Rector presided at a Board of Manage­ ment meeting at which it Was decided to authorize the pur­ chase of an organ of the type demonstrated.-----------o----------- Bridal Shower For Joan Weir At Knox, Auburn AUBURN — Miss Joan Weir of London was guest of honour for a bridal shower last Friday evening lin the1 Sunday school room of the Knox Presbyterian Church here. The room was decorated for the occasion and a white arch entwined with flowers made a pretty setting for the chair for, the guest of honour. The guests, were welcomed by Miss Laura Phillips and Mrs. Kenneth .Scott Was the chair­ man for the program. Miss Margaret Haines presid­ ed for a contest which was an­ swered by names of flowers. It was the story of Joan’s romance. The winners were Mrs. Oliver Anderson and 'Miss Bernice Mc­ Dougall. A reading by Mrs. Mary Bore, a solo, by Nancy Anderson ac­ companied by Miss B'ernice1 Mc­ Dougall and a contest conduct­ ed by Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson with winners Miss Margaret R. Jackson and Mrs. Duncan Mac­ Kay completed the entertain­ ment. Mrs. Robert J. Phillips pin­ ned a lovely corsage on Miss Weir and Mrs. Eleanor Brad­ nock read an address of poetry composed by Mrs. Oliver Ander­ son. Many gifts were carried by Margaret Haines, Bernice Mc­ Dougall, Nancy Anderson and Sharon Collins. Assisting the bride-elect to open her gifts was Miss Melba Stales of Goderich. '. • Th:e hostess opened the meet-' ing and the .scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Ed. Davies. Prayers were led by Mrs. Tom Haggiitt. ' *. Mrs. John Daet gave the mis­ sionary ■ theme, "Life on the Marino Islands. A quartette with Wendy Schneider; Cathy ■ Schneider, Nancy Lapp and Diane Kirk- conneill sang and Rev. Paken- ham read an interesting letter from Rev. R. Locke, relator at Fort George, an Anglican mis­ sion on James 'Bay. The Seneider sisters conduct­ ed a contest. President, Mrs’. Qrval MoPhee conducted the business 'assisted by the secre­ tary, Mrs. John Daer and Mrs: Andrew Kirkconnel’l, treasurer. Letters of thanks were -.read and plans were made for the August meeting which will be1 held lin the home of Mrs. Lloyd Humphreys at Dublin. Roll call was answered by a Bible verse containing the Word "Trinity”. The apron was passed and each member deposited 25 cents for the Budget. ■ . - Lunch was served by Mrs. Schneider and her daughters and a successful auction was held.
