BY DOROTHY BARKER f
OUCH!!!
It hardly seems a year ago
that, my family decided I need
ed a new linterest, Numerous
things ■ were suggested such as
braiding a. rug for the sunroom
(12 x 20), building a dry wall
to hold back "the erosion of the
driveway into the nearby
swamp, opening my home as a
haven for burned out 'journa
lists or investing in thg stock
market.
When' I suiweyed thie area
of the sunroom flooi' I decided
it had been nude, .for the past
ten years and could continue
as such unless I really became
desperate for an outlet for my
artistic conceit. At the very
thought of rock heaving my
aims ached and my lumbar
muscles suddenly developed1 a
kink, Years ago, when I was
designated as ‘*Mom with the
muscles”, I could have heaved
a rock with the best of th|e
family but not today. I didh’t
think it would woo the muse
for either. guest journalists in
search of a rest or for me in
search of a dollar or two to go'
into the
So-o-o-o
market.
1 was told, is double up on your

I was all right until the dogs
got the better of the princesses
and I think I’ve ended up aw
ing my nice reliable broker a
good hunk of Whiat’s left in my
bank account. ■
It. was a new interest all
right. I became so engrossed in
the radio reports of the stock
market, the hot .tips from num
ber two son andi the visions of
all the money I was going to
make that I almfost forgot to
eat. Now I doubt if I’ll get a
square meal, ever again.
But don’it get me wrong, I
haye heaps of company in my
losses and besides people have
survived before now on the
bark of trees, a few weeds or a
mouse or so. Before complete
starvation has wasted me away
to a shadow the apples wii'll
have ripened, That is if it ever,
gets warm enough for the frees
to burst into bloom, and the
