Bratlnock) 1‘Ttps way to Heaven" was the prizewinning play present­ ed Friday evening in Seaforth District High. School by the Clinton Junior Famers and the Clinton Junior Institute. The cast was composed of John Black, Dungannon; Beat­ rice Munch, Clinton; Sharon Ball, RR 1, Auburn; and Mar- jnus Bakker, RR 3, Auburn. Keyes jtrophy for the best play was presented to. the winning cast. Best actor award was presented to John Black and the best actress a- ward went to Roba Doig of Seaforth. She was a member pf the Seafortir cast in flW’ play “The Bracelet of Doom”. The Clinton cast will go on to i compete with winners from other counties. Robert Fotheringham was chairman. Mrs. R. T. Nelson Was adjudicator. Seaforth Juniors received the Harold Baker award for best conduct and' most , improved meetings in the, county. Donald Kay was Emiceie for the evening and introduced Mr. Windover, who directed . the children through their paces. Beginning with the tiny tots, through to intermediate, each class performed in a group what they had been taught, then children who had excelled one particular type .of demonstrated their a- most in skating, bality. White bearing the club name and the season, were presented to each club member, by Mrs. Ronald Rudd, past president. Dance, numbers included a two-part” variation.1 solo, fox trot and 14-Step by Mary Jean; the Dutch waltz by Patti Kay and' Joyce Neilans; Mr. Wind­ oyer and Elaine Bellefleur, Mary Jean and John Anstett, Phyllis Fremlin and Vicky Lou Finch. H The swing dance wag1 done by Mary Jean and Joyce Neil­ ans, Vicky Lou Finch and Mr. Windover. The last selection, the 'European Waltz, was danc­ ed by Mary Jean and Mr. Wind- over. As a grand finale, the child­ ren skated around the ice, led by Mary Jean. Small gifts of appreciation were presented by the presi­ dent to the instructor and' to Mary Jean, who taught - the beginners class1 all season, and to the past president, Mrs. Rudd and' Mrs. Fremlin, who gave generously in time and ability for the benefit of the club. Mayor Donald E. Symons made the draw for luggage, which was won- by Mrs; Robert Smith, Ontario Street, Clinton. The mayor congratulated the club and instructors for the progress achieved and conveyed his hopes for a new arena next year.' Several members of the club have been recommended by the instructor for more intensified training at-St. Thomas summer School. • ■ '■ ■■•« On Sunday evening- a group from the Clinton Club will be trying tests in- Stratford under the Canadian Figure Skating Association. Some of these, if successful, will be eligible for bronze instructions, and one for her silver. Parents and those interested should watch for notice of meeting in the near future, and attend if at all possible. The Figure Skating commit­ tee would like 'to 'thank all who helped make their achievement day and diraw a success. Special thanks to Aiken Bros, for their generosity and co-operation. Mrs; Wilfred Sanderson, Carl Govifer; low, Mrs. Gotdbn R. Taylor, Ronnie Plunkett. Three tied for the lone hands prize: Mrs. William J. Craffig, William Strfaughan and William J.. Craig. Mr. Craig won the draw and received the prize. Following the card party, the Hall Board held a dianee to the Black- Hawk orchestra. The turkey donated by the James T. Craig and Sion Sawmill was Won by Rod MacKenzie, Port Albert. The lucky draw was made by Mrs; Evelyn Millian. A prize donated by Arthur Bros; was won by Mr. and Mirs. Lawrence Plaetzer whose wed­ ding anniversary was nearest to March 17. The spot dance was won by Mrs. Evelyn Milli­ an and Charles Menrffl, donated by the Arthur Bros. The elimination dance1 was won by Frank Baer and Miss Marie Leatherland and the one with the birthday nearest the 17th was Mr's. William J. Craig. These last two prizes were donated ,by the Hall Board. In charge, of the door Wais Arthur Youngibiut, Gordon Dobie, Len Archambault, and Thomas Haggitt.
