Correspond­ ence was read and a donation to the WMS from Mrs. Hany .Eve, Leaside, was presented in memory of her mother by Mrs. Andrew Kirkconneli- Plans were discussed on the bale and it was decided to make a quilt, “Called to Proclaim” was. the Bible study taken by Mrs. Wes Bradnock. The meditation sug­ gested “how we should live and ■show that we as diriistiaiis are followers of Christ”, AU tool; part in the Bible readings •and discussion that followed. A duet on a record “The. Lord is my Shepherd”', was; sung by Mrs. Donald Haines and1 daugh­ ter Margaret. Roll Bible word, Davies telling of the work done at the Christian Medical centre at Vellore. The' offering Was re­ ceived by Mrs. Haines and dedi­ cated by Mrs. Bradnock. Plans were made for the Day of Prayer service which, is to be held this year in St. Mark’s Anglican Church on February 25 at 2:30 pm. It was requested that all those with used stamps hand1 them to, Mrs. Leatherland so she may send them to the Bible Society, Ladies Guild The Ladies Aid of Knox Pres­ byterian Church met with pres­ ident, Mrs. Major Youngblut in charge. Secretaiy, Mrs. Roy Daer read the minutes, gave the financial statement, and read thank-you nates. Members decided to send a box of fruit to Mrs. Edgar Lawson Who is stall a patient in Clinton Hos*’ pi tai. Lunch was served by Miss Frances Houston.' Mins. Ed. Davies conducted an auction. Lunch, was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs, Orval McPhee. Mrs. G. R. Tay-, lor will be hostess at next meet­ ing. S. /■ St. Mark’s Guild The Ladies Guild: of St. Mark’s Anglican Church met at the home of Mrs, Donald Cart- wiright. Mrs, Gordon R. Taylor was at the piano, Daniel; 12 was read followed by prayer. Mrs. Ed Davies gave the Bible' Study, “Down the MiacKenzie”, by Bishop Cook. The story told of the church work at Fort McPherson. Mrs. Fordyce Clark told of the beginning of the Anglican ■Church dating back to the year 33 B.-C. The president, Mrs. Orval McPhee presided for the bus­ iness meeting, The minutes were read by secretaiy Mrs. John Daer. Treasurer, Mrs. An­ drew Kirkconneli gave the fin­ ancial statement and accepted fees. Plans were made for the Women’s Day of Prayer service •in the’ cihurch on February 25. Roll call was answered by a Bible verse containing the word “Love”. The travelling apron was passed and a penny for each letter un Sexagesima Quin- quagesima was placed in the apron. Valentine Dance The annual Valentine dance sponsored by the Auburn Com­ munity Hall Board1 was a sue* cess last Friday evening. Leu Archambault and William Gow planned the evening. Dancing was enjoyed to the Black Hawk orchestra. Prices went to: spot dance, Miss Mar­ garet Haines and Floyd Smith (chocolates donated by Torn Johnston’s hardware store); elimination dance, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jewell (chocolates donated by Beadle’s Butcher shop). Mr. and Mrs. Frank .Baer were the winners of a prize for the nearest wedding anni­ versary and they won choco-- lafeis donated by Beadle’s But-, eh er shop. Tickets had been sold for major prizes: pole lamp donated by Stiles Furniture store, won by Chester Finnigan, Dungan­ non; 100 lb. bag of sugar don­ ated by Doran’s store, won by John Berry, Goderich; two pairs of blankets, donated by Taylor’s store, won by Cliff Sunclercock, Londesboro. The door prize, a large Valen­ tine box of Chocolates, donated by Maxine and Bill Seers Res­ taurant was won by Mrs. Nor­ man McClinchey.' The committee in charge of the door were Mrs., Gordon R. Taylor, Arthur Youngbluf and Robert Arthur. AUBURN — Over 35 homies in this community have issued invitation 'to help billet the del­ egates who plan to attend the Kalinas Winter Weekend in Au­ burn the last weekend in Feb­ ruary. Plains are made to have over 100 present for the theme, “Don’t ‘just stand there, do something”. It is a study of the Young People’s envoivcment in Church—in the Community and with other people. The Kamos group (organized one year ago) is an outgrowth of 'the former Young Peoples Union of the United Church in Canada. Last year the winter weekend was held at Watford when over’ 80 attended. As president of formed Military Vicariate Coun­ cil- of the' CWL, Mrs. McCros­ sin gave a resume of the origin of this organization' and de­ scribed , its activities across Canada. The nationally adopted Cen­ tennial project she said, was support of the Vanier Founda­ tion. She mentioned, also, the national convention to, be held in Montreal in June 1967, coin­ ciding with Exposition 67. There was a question period during which the speaker answered the members’ queries. During her visit here Mrs. McCrossin was house guest of Mrs. ‘Pat Eng­ lish, president of the CWL, RCAF, Clinton. Flight Lieutenant and Mrs. W. G. Poppenk are spending a few weeks in Florida. Mrs, Ben Rus'sell has flown to Comox, British Columbia, where she will visit relatives for three weeks. Sgt. Wilfred Bowman is pre­ sently a patient in Westminster Hospital, London, Cpl. and Mrs; William Davis ■have taken up residence in RCAF Station Winnipeg. , Colleen Webber has returned home after spending a few days in hospital for tonsilitis. Lori Sewell and her guest Judy Godson, students at York University Toronto, spent the weekend with WO 2 and Mrs. Harry Sewell. Deepest sympathy is extend­ ed to LAC and Mrs. Byran Venables whose daughter, Marcie, passed away last Fri-. day. The Annual World Day of Prayer service at St. Andrew’s Church iin Clinton will take place at 2 p.m. on February 25. OWL Meets Mrs. J. R. McCrossin, RCAF League1 on Community the newly- *W* LOBA Are Prelude To 45th Anniversary The LOBA held a very suc­ cessful euchre at the Orange Hall last Wednesday evening. High prizes were won by Mrs; Tom O’Connell and Tom Deeves, Most lone hands were Mrs. Bill Batkin and Clayton Hudgins. Low players were Mrs. Marjory Buchanan, Goderich and Mr. Bill Batkin. Mrs, F. Cummings won the door prize and Mr. Frank An­ drews the draw. The ladies plan another party dn March 30. These 'two parties are taking the place of the planned Des­ sert Euchres. The next meeting will be on February 22, when plans will be made for the birthday party in May. It will be 45 years since the lodge was instituted so come out members and help plan a “Gaia affair”. Special event which took place was a Father and Son Investiture in which William Thomson 'became a Scouter and an assistant Cubmaster while his son Larne was invested as a cub. 13 boys invested as cubs were Wayne Barr, Gordon Bow­ les, Russell Cail, Robert Dieroff, Jean-Paul Gale, Ken LaPointe, Phillip Leges.’, Bobby Marceil, Mike Marchand, Ira Moody, John .Short and Greg Stone. Guests for the evening in­ cluded the District Commission­ er for Huron County Corporal Jack Gallant and all of the boys’ parents. Clinton Folk Fined In Goderich Court Allan Graham, Clinton, was fined $15 and casts, or five days in jail, when he appeared before Magistrate Glenn Hays, QC, in Goderich on Friday, and plead­ ed guilty to fallowing a truck too closely. , When the .truck stopped to make a left hand turn, Gra­ ham’s Vehicle collided with the rear end of the truck, causing about $300 damage to his own car and none to the truck. Paul James Malone, RR 5, Seaforth, was fined $20 and costs, or three days in jail, when he pleaded guilty to bping intoxicated in a public place, William Chesney, RR 5, Sea­ forth, was fined $15 and costs, or three days in jail, when he pleaded guilty to being found intoxicated in a public place.
