Basketball practice is now in
full swing, since the girls began
practice on Monday night and
the boys have been practicing
for quite some time. Hope is
high among the students that
the teams will be able to 'bring
the w.O.s.s.a. \
back to Exeter for another year,
Grade XIII are right in the
midst of their term examinations
and the rest of the grades will
be starting on Monday. A few
more books and worried looks

ly with the students.
The cold stormy weather we
have been experiencing lately
brings to mind an incident which
took place recently at the open
ing of , thb Fanshawe Dam on
the Thames Rivei’ near London.
This ceremony proved to be a
very cold affair with Premier
championships
Frost and Mr, Winters officiat
ing.
This past. week li,as proved
disastrous as far ^s the school
buses have been concerned. Last
Thursday one of "the buses head
ing south on the main street
with a load of students was in
volved in a collision with a car
and wagon, Fortunately no one was injured and the damages
amounted to approximately $100.
Winter has definitely arrived
and the slippery
the roads has resulted in several
buses arriving a few minutes off
schedule.
All one has to do to prove
commencement is drawing near
is to step out into the hall dur
ing activity period and listen to
the strains of music drifting
from the vicinity of the music
room, where the Glee Club are
'busy at practice.

The Board of Transport Commissioners for Canada has
rendered judgment on the application we made in October,
1949 for our first general rate increase in 23 years. The Board
has now ordered new rates that will replace the temporary
rates which it authorized in its interim order last July.
NEW RATES FOR
EXETER
e*iOn
5.00
FAIR a REASONABLE RATES
These rates will adjust the temporary rates ordered by The
Board of Transport Commissioners last July, And in most cases will
result in only small differences*
White some rates will increase, others will not change. The
changes and adjustments provide reasonable rates that will fairly
reflect the difference in value of the various classes of service. •
The additional revenue from the new rates will enable us to
maintain and improve your service and to keep pace with growth in
the territory we serve* We will keep oil working to give the kind of
service you want, when and where you want it.
AND
Today more of your friends have telephones than ever before*
You can call more people and more can call you. More telephones and
better service mean bigger value for you*
The cost of telephone service has hot gone up as much as most
other things you buy* The telephone bill is one of the small items in
your family budget* When you think of its many advantages, telephone
service certainly gives you big value for your money.
