Eli King Of Creditpn Marks 82nd Birthday Mr. Eli King, a well known and highly respected resident of Crediton for many years, marked his eighty-second birthday on Sunday, November 36, Mr, King makes his home with his son-in- law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James Mawhinney, and has not •been privileged to mingle with his old associates as frequently as in former years. He is still remembered by his many friends as was evidenced by the shower of good wishes he received, A family dinner was given in his honour at Mr. Mawhinney’s home on Saturday evening. His family comprise Mrs. (Rotha) Mawhin- ney, Mrs. (Leita) Hill, Mrs. (Lily) Schwartz, Frank King of Exeter, Melvin of Stephen, and Samuel of Crediton. A host of friends join with his family in extending good wishes for the future. Personal Items t Mr. and Mrs. Albert Exoo of Cleveland, Ohio, , spent a few days last week with the latter’s mother, Mrs. A. M. Berry, Mr. and Mrs. William Berry of Lon­ don, and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nichols of Strathroy were guests on Thursday with Mrs. Berry. Mrs. F. W. Clark, who is a patient in Victoria Hospital, Lon­ don, underwent an operation on Saturday, Although in a very weak condition Mrs. Clark is do­ ing as well as can be expected. Mrs. D. Maclsaac visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Young in London. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young of Fort Wayne, Ind., are visiting with the latter’s sister, Mrs. William Smith, and Mr. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Haist and family of Fraser, Mich., visited over the American holi­ day with Mrs. Annie Haist and Mrs. *M. Faist. Mrs. John Oestreicher of Clif­ ford, who has 'been caring for the late Mrs. Kuhn, is remaining for a few days with relatives here. We are sorry to report that Mrs. G. Fahrner is not enjoying good health, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and fam­ ily of Toronto have taken up residence in the home of Mr, Herb Schenk, recently vacated by Mr. and Mrs, Robert Switzer, A very helpful service, in the United Church on Sunday mor­ ning, was conducted by Mr. B. Sutter of Clinton and Messrs. Hl Sparling and J, Sinclair of Elim- ville. Mr. Jarrott, the newly engaged minister, is expected to be in charge of the service on Sunday next, Lover Of Flowers, Mrs. Kuhn Dies Funeral service was held on Tuesday for Elizabeth Oestreich­ er, wife of the late Conrad Kuhn, who passed away at her home on Sunday, Her entire life was spent in this community. She was a member of the Evan­ gelical U.B. Church and a faith­ ful worker in the Ladies’ Aid. A great lover of flowers, she served many years on the Floral Committee of the church. She is survived by one brother, Her­ man Oestreicher, of Windsor, and several nieces and nephews. The remains rested at the Din- ney Funeral Home, Exeter, until Tuesday, when a public service was held in the Evangelical Church, conducted by her paster, Rev, J. V, Dahms. Interment was in Crediton Cemetery. Pall bearers were Messrs. John Oe­ streicher, Carl Oestreicher, Wil­ liam Brown, Fred Brown, Ken­ neth Kuhn and Carl Kuhn. Mr. and Mrs. Whitfield Swit­ zer and Mr. and. Mrs. William Thompson from Woodham at­ tended James Street anniversary and spent the day with Mr. and Mrs. James Squire. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Martin and daughter Gwendolyne of Brussels visited with relatives in town last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Barnes of Medora, Alberta, were recent visitors with their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Wright.
