The table was tastefully decor­ ated in pink and white centred with a wedding cake. The im­ mediate family were all present together with their families, numbering forty in all. Mrs. Pon- Exeter visited Thursday evening aid Sanders at Sioux Lookout.Mrs. Davina Wilson, 29, of Clandeboye, died at 10:30 Tues­ day night in St. Joseph’s Hos­ pital, where she had been admit­ ted a day before. She was the wife of Leslie Wilson. with Mr. and Mrs. George Kellett. couple and from Switzerland in immigrating to Anderson, Commanding Officer of Station Greenwood, N.S., to the rank of Group Cap­ tain. A native of London, Ont., and son of of Exeter, pointed as mander at Group Captain Anderson is a veteran of thirteen years’ service in the R.C.A.F, During World War II he served as command­ ing officer of numerous flying training schools during the oper­ ation of the British Common­ wealth Air Training Plan and was subsequently awarded hon- ourary French, Czechoslovakian and Belgian wings in recognition of his contribution to the train­ ing of airmen from those coun­ tries. A recent graduate from the National Defence College, Group Captain Anderson is also a graduate of the Empire Central Flying School in England. In August 1945 he was awarded the Air Force Cross and was for three years associated with the division of planning at Air Force Headquarters. o ne Of Oldest Residents Passes One of our oldest residents Mrs. Robert Gillies, .wife of the late Robert Gillies died at the home of her daughter Mrs. E.C. Harvey (Stella Gillies) Nov. 1. Mrs. Gillies the former Agnes Hay Taylor and the daughter of the late George and Jane Taylor was born in Galt Ontario, March 23, 185 6 and was married in St. Marys’ to Robert Gillies on Jan. 10, 1881. For twenty-seven years she and her famiy resided in Paris, 'Ontario and in 1908 they came to Exeter. Since the death of her husband in Sept. 1928 Mrs. Gillies has made her home with hei* son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Harvey. Besides her husband Mrs. Gil­ lies was deceaced by two sons Perce J. Gillies and Howard T. Gillies. Surviving her in addition to her daughter are a son Ro­ bert G. Gillies of Midland; a granddaughter, -Mrs. Lome Syn- dei* of Montreal, Quebec; three grandsons: Robert J. Gillies, Chatham, John H. Gilies of Lon­ don, and Robert C. M. Gillies of Ottawa; and also three great­ grand-sons. Services were conduced Friday evening, November 3, at eight o’clock at the Dinney Funeral Home. Rev. Donald Sinclair as­ sisted by Rev. Harold Snell of­ ficiating. The burial took place in Paris Saturday, November 4, at one o’clock. The out of town relatives at­ tending the services were Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Gillies of Mid­ land, Mrs. P. J. Gillies, Mr. and. Mrs. John Gillies, and Mr. and Mrs. Lome Gillies of London; Robert J. Gillies of Chatham; Robert C. M. Gillies .of Ottawa; Mrs. Edna J. Taylor of Battle Creek; Mrs, Mildred Smith and Mrs. Florence Seldon of Hamil­ ton; and Mrs. Mabel .McIntosh, Mrs. C. Richardson, and Mrs. G. Hipel of Preston; also attending were Rev. and Mrs.* M. A. A letter received by the Times- Advocate from Winterthur, Swit­ zerland, states that the family is preparing to leave for Canada within a few months "with . a view to settling as farmers and small manufacturers'’. The letter, written in perfect English, requests a number of copies of the Times-Advocate to “learn the way people live there”. The author, L. Mazurek Brechbuhl, explains he secured the name and address of the newspaper from the Canadian Legation in Berne. Alderson, of London, was seriously burned and is cri­ tically ill at the Children’s War Memorial Hospital, London. It seems that the child was suffer­ ing from a cold and was .placed on a bed with pillows on either side while an antidote was being vaporized on a hot plate beside the bed. Mrs. Alderson left the room only a short time when the child pushed off one of the pil­ lows upsetting the boiling water which the child fell into. She was badly burned and scalded over the front part of the body. Mr. and Mrs. Alderson were for­ mer residents of Exeter, Mr. Alderson being an employee of the Public Utilities Commission.
