These girls are Janet Scott, Dorothea Ann Lewis, Jacqueline Williams, Mary Jane Hall, Mary Tomes and Beth McRann. They were led by Mrs, George Simpson, Who was assisted by Mrs, James Hall, Club members from Edgewood, Ilderton, Medway, Riverview and Glencoe were present, The program wa.s conducted by Miss Hylda Metcalf, home economist, and Mr. W. T. Abra ham, assistant agricultural re presentative. Each club member exhibited her Garden Record Book and a bouquet of flowers. She also con tributed vegetables for the club’s vegetable display. The Clandeboye Club's record' books were in the shape of a large red. tomato with greep Stem and leaves. Mr. Abraham commented on the superior qual ity of the girls’ vegetables, A garden quiz was written and two classes of vegetables were judged; this was followed by each club (presenting a demon stration of a flower arrange ment. Janet Scott and Dorothea Arin Lewis represented the Clan deboye for this. EDGEWOOD A shower was held in the Orange Hall at Edgewood on Thursday night for Miss Mar garet Westman. Mr. Don Middleton spoke over CEPE London1 on Thursday for the Junior Harmers. Mr, and Mrs. Harold Westman Jr. of London spent the week end with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Allen Westman. Miss Joyce Lashbrook of Lon don spent Thursday evening with Mr. and Mrs, Harold Westman and family, Mr. and Mrs. Boy Moore and family spent Sunday at ipper- wash Beach, Bobby, Larry and Ronnie Har riett of Granton spent Tuesday with Gordon and Glen Moore. Mrs. M. Bowman of Revere underwent an operation on her hip (which she fractured a week ago) in St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday. Mi’s. Percy Armitage is a pa tient in St. Joseph’s Hospital. Many Attend Decoration Day At Clandeboye The twenty-seventh annual memorial service and decoration of graves was held on Sunday, September 3, at St. James’ Ceme tery. Dr. Logan Towers of Lon don took charge of the service. Soloist was Master Ronald Yundt of Stratford, who sang “My Task”. Rev. W. Vollick, B.A., of Ailsa Craig, gave , the address over a public address system, courtesy of C. Haskett & Son, so that those outside could enjoy the service as well. A very large crowd attended. The Women’s Institute placed a basket of flowers in the church In memory of departed members. L.O.B.A. Victoria Lodge 387 Lucan placed a basket of flowers in memory of departed members. W.A. And Ladies’ Guild Mrs. Ed Flynn was hostess for the August meeting of the W.A. and Ladies' Guild of St. James’ Church. Mrs. Flynn, president, opened the meeting with hymn and .prayer. Roll call was answered by verse of scripture containing the word “friend”. Miss Verna Cunningham read the scripture. Mrs. Harrison took the Litany. A paper — “Religion in the Home”—was read by Mrs. Geo. Flynn. Mrs. Cecil Carter, president, opened the Guild meeting with prayer. It was decided to hold a bazaar in the Parish Hall in Lucan November 18. The meeting closed with pray er. Refreshments were served by hostess and committee. Finkbeiner of Dash wood has taken Clandeboye Pub lic School for the new term, Mrs. Murray Hodgson is on London teaching staff, Miss Verna Cunningham is on the teaching staff at St. Thomas. Miss Joan Simpson is on the teaching staff at Hespeler, Miss Mary Carter spent the week-end at Bayfield. Mr. and. Mrs. H. Murless spent the week-end at Niagara Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Downing and Karen of Chatham spent the week-end with Mr, and Mrs. Aimer Hendrie. Mrs. Charles Carter has re turned from a visit with .her sister, Mrs. Emms, of Shake speare. Mrs. K. Smith of London spent several days with Mrs. Mervin Carter. Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. Goldwhi Yundt, Ronald and Raymond were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Paton on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Hueston of St. Catherines and family spent the week-end with the latter’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Kllmen. Mervin Carter on Sunday. We are sorry to report Mrs. Roy McRann has been ill. We wish Mrs, Emily Tomes a speedy recovery. She has been a patient in Victoria Hospital fol lowing an operation. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Little of Toronto spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Simpson. Hern Reunion Held In Zion The Hern re-union wag held at Zion on Wednesday, August 30. Dinner was served in the church shed to a good number of the family.'During the dinner hour the president, Mr. Gerald Hern, called on Mr. Kenneth Johns, who welcomed Mr, and Mrs, Charles Jewell of Portcawl, South Wales, to the picnic. Mr, and Mrs, Jewell have attended three times since it was started in 1924, During the war they entertained many of the boys from this community in their home and have many friends in Canada, Both Mr. and* Mrs. Jewell spoke ’and thanked the friends, and relatives for their kindness to them during the war and the period of strict rationing since. A vote of thanks was given Mrs. Herman Kyle for the able way In which she has filled the office of secretary-treasurer for the past number of years and regret was expressed that both she and Mrs. Charles Johns were unable to be 'present on account of sickness. A business meeting conducted by the president was held and officers for the coming year elected as follows: President, Mr. Kenneth Hern; vice-presi dent, Mr. Geo. Jaques; secretary treasurer, Mrs. Melville Hern. In the afternoon a sports pro gram with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hern and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hern in charge was held on the school grounds. Winchelsea School Chums Mark Ninetieth Birthday Together Two school chums, born on the same day, joined together recently to celebrate a moment ous o c c a s i o n—-their ninetieth -birthdays. Many years ago, Mr. William Clark and Mrs. Sidney Cook, now of Detroit, attended Winchelsea school together, Both were born in Usborne Township on August 25, 1860. When friends and relatives of Mr. Clark held a special birthday party for him, Mr. Cook attend ed to make it a double celebra tion. Both men are in extremely good health for their age. Mr.' and Mrs. Emerson Gun ning were hosts for the evening. Many friends gathered to wish the two gentlemen many happy returns of the day.
