Mr. Luther Reynolds of town received word of the, death of his sister, Mrs. Herb Phillips of Barnaby, B.C. Mrs. W. F. Anderson and Ron ald, of Windsor, Mr. and Mrs. W. Fred Mitchell, Marion and Douglas, of London, and Mr. and Mrs. B. J, McNaughtin, Linda and N alley, of Stratford, were among those present. Legion Team Wins The Exeter Legion Softball team whipped Clinton 14-8 in their first game of the season Tuesday night. Three borne buns by Joe .Mac Donald, Jake Lindenfield and Jerry Lawson were the outstand ing hits of the game. Johnny Rhude was ,the winning pitcher. Pentecostal W.M.C. s The May meeting was held on May 25 with a good attendance. Mrs. Keith McLaren opened the meeting by singing. Prayer was given by Mrs. H. Butler. Roll call was 'answered by scripture on “Exalt”. Four home runs by Joe Mac- Hope Chest are to be brought in at the June meeting. A pound shower was arranged for a young pastor and wife recently married who are going out in the., work. Jim Whyte, R.C.N. Weds In Vancouver Of interest here is the mar riage ceremony in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, uniting Shirley June, daughter of Capt. H. Warburton, Regina and Vic toria, and the late 'Mrs. .Warbur ton to James R. Whyte, R.C.N., son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Whyte. Lucan, Ont., and .formerly of Exeter. For the ceremony, conducted Friday evening by Rev. J. L. W. McLean, the bride wore an at tractive suit in fashionable blue and white, complemented with navy-toned accessories and red carnations and lily of .the valley corsage. She was given in mar riage by her brother, Graham Warbuton, in the absence of their father. Mrs. Marion Chorney selected a .powder blue ensemble with white accessories and corsage bouquet of pale pink carnations for her role as honour matron, and Vincent Mc’Cloy, R.C.N., sup ported the groom as best man. A reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Fox, uncle and aunt of the ,bride. Mrs. Fox and 'Mrs. Graham War burton assisted in welcoming the guests. Reception rooms were bright with arrangements of pink snap dragons, mauve stocks and other summer blooms. White candles in .silver holders and vases of pink and white sweet peas form-; ed the table setting for the three-tier cake. The bride donned a pavy top coat over her wedding ensemble for the honeymoon on the main land. Mr. and .Mrs. Whyte will re turn to Victoria to live. Bride-Elect Showered In Elimville Church A miscellaneous shower was held Monday evening, May 29 for Miss Wanda Stephen at the home of Mrs. JPhillp Murch. Mrs. Ross Skinner escorted Wanda to a beautifully decorated chair and read an-address. Wanda received her gifts jn a large pink and white wedding- cake and thanked all the ladies in her own pleasing way. Every one sang “For She’s A Jolly Good Fellow”. Songs about the bride were made up and sung afterwards. Lunch was served at the dose by the hostess and com mittee.
