Your Drugs at Robertson's Phone 50 .Exeter Playoffs Under Way The playoff session of. the district W.O.A/A. got under way Monday night with Hensail fac ing Lucan in a best-oMive series and Dashwood squaring off with Crediton and Zurich battling it out with Dublin. Granton was left out of the playoffs but in protesting has been allowed to re-enter, Tues day night Crediton is to playoff with Granton to determine which team will play with Dashwood. Since this is written 'before the game the results at this time are not known. If Crediton de feat Granton the game against Dashwood will stand, If Granton win another game will be played on neutral ice and if Granton win they will play Dashwood in a new series.' Both C group series are two-out-of-three games affairs. Protect your investment. Follow up the vital chick starting season by feeding your next winter's layers now on a growing mash made with National Developing Concen trate ... fresh-mixed for tasty goodness. The growing season makes or breaks your flock. So build strong, vigorous "egg machines now, the "NATIONAL WAY". Be sure of birds that lay premium eggs steadily through Fall and Winter. As for the Exeter Monarchs, they are the only A group team and are now awaiting another group winner. In the O.H.A. the Centralia Flyers will not know until their game with Goderich on Wednesday night how they stand in the playoff picture. If they win they will be the top A team in the standing and will await the winners of' a Goderich- Clinton Radar series. If the Flyers do win Wednes day night district fans may see a tilt between them and the Exeter Monarchs in the local arena Friday night. Smart Uniforms Both Hensall and Lucan sport ed smart new uniforms in their first appearance on local ice last Monday -night. Hensail’s colour combination is a bright gold and black while the Irish sweaters and socks are mainly white with green trim. The team is spon sored by Harvey Langford, an enthusiastic supporter, if there ever was one, of the Irish teams. Zurich Trims Clinton Radar The Zurich C entry pulled a surprise upset by downing' the Clinton Radar O.H.A. squad in an exhibition game last week 4- 3 in overtime. Rumours have it that Zurich three imports had left over the week-end but in talking to Herb Turkheim we find that it’s just a lot of talk. They trimmed Dublin in Sea forth Monday night with the re turn game in Zurich Wednesday night. Smart Arena „ We haven’t as yet seen either of the Hensall or Zurich arenas but from what we hear they must be fine credits to these two municipalities. Then on Monday night Harvey Langford was tell ing us about their new centre in Lucan. Judging from his enthus iasm it’s going to be quite a. structure. Nothing, apparently, is being left undone to make it an out standing building. Harvey tells us that with cement floors and partitions, etc., the building will be well protected against fire. They have allowed fourteen feet of walk between the dressing rooms arid the ice surface and the end will be shielded with glass and wire. A large snack bar has been incorporated into the plan as well. They had hoped to play in the new struc ture next Monday night but the wiring panel is not available as yet. Wluit About Trophy? Last year the Traquair trophy, annually donated to the team finishing on top at the end of the regular schedule, was not presented to any team due to the fact that the schedule was not completed. This season the same condition exists but the fact remains that Zurich finished up so far in front that they would undoubtedly have claimed it. On the other hand the Lucan team, while only playing three games, had an undefeated record and had they played their .games the story might have been dif ferent. It looks like a good ques tion for the league executive to decide. The Lucan Irish bagged num ber one jn their semi-final series with Hensall Monday night in the Exeter Arena by a 6-3 score. Although the Lucan six have played but three league games ail season they were able by the end of the initial period to com mand the play with two markers and from there on in never lost the. lead, Hensall scored the first tally at 2:47 and it was not until 15:04 that Lucan retaliated, Ivan Hearn sunk the marker when a Hensall player cleared the disc out to him. In the last minute of play Hindmarsh sent Stretton through the defence for Lucan’s second tally. Early in the second Hind marsh ca u g h t Mock napping with a long centre-ice shot to put Lucan two up. Hensall got one 'back at 15,41 on a two-way effort ’by Flear and Little with Flear flashing the red lamp. Lucan came back in foui’ min utes’ time with Norm Hardy sinking Stretton’s passout. With only a minute of the third slipping by, Hensall came within one of their rivals on a goal by Flear. That was sail’s last tally while Lee ington and Hearn added more to the Irish cause to them a handy margin. The second game of the of-l'ive series between, these two B group clubs. Last Game 6-2 After dropping six straight starts the Exeter Monarchs put on one of their better displays of hockey to trim the Dashwood sextet 6-2 on local ice last Fri day night. The teams skated off at the first break squared off with a marker apiece. Exeter took a one-goal lead in the second with two .goals to Dashwood's one and in the final period -found the range for three Jrnore tallies. Lawshn ‘got Exete^'off on the right foot carrying the disc up the ice, slipping through the de fence to coast in Haugh. Ford took rink-wide pass to corner on a long low shot in less than five minutes to knot the count. Half the second went by with out any scoring and then Exeter popped in two. Har and Doug Brintnell worked together on the first with Har hitting the h e m p . Shaw took Seymour’s pass to drill a long hard drive past Haugh making it 3-1.
