Having won two games as against five losses, the Monarchs this year have failed to keep up their pace of the past few seasons. With virtually the same hoc key team with the added fact that the boys have invested their own money into the pot, it’s hard to understand why they can’t put up the same brand as last year at least. We thought they were aftei' watching the first period of hockey against the classy Zurich team in the game early in the season on the local sheet. It struck us about the best hockey we have seen here for some time. However, after seeing what happened in the second period and again the game against Granton it almost looks like a Dr. Jeckell and Mr. Hyde affair. There is a good reason for it in that the teams in the district are much stronger than in years, This is especially with the Zurich squad, three starry imports on lineup the league leaders __ hot group of puckchasers. Even with a full house the locals took a 9-3 trimming from them in the new Zurich arena last Friday night. Well fellows, maybe you’re U E® I Bl n L L r other true With their are a FAIR WEATHER FRIENDS are a “dime a dozen”. When things go smoothly and you’re “riding on top”, there are always plenty of “helping- hands” available. But then you really don’t need them. It’s when the unexpected happens and the “rocks go out from under you” that you really appreciate those people who are willing—and able—to help you “get to your feet”. IT’S AT TIMES like these when most people dis cover there’s at least one “stormy weather” friend who can always be counted upon for real help—their local insurance agent. His business and his reputation is, in the long run, built more on his action at a time of loss than liis words at a time of sale. To the vic tim of a loss, it’s comforting, convenient and helpful to turn to someone who will see to it that you secure the full benefit of the insurance provided by your policy. FOIl OVER 142 YEARS, folks have been buying in surance from local agents. Far more insurance is purchased in this manner than in any other way. Phone: Office 24 Res. 162J Exeter, Ont. W. Doubleheader Friday In order to get the postponed games in, Convenor Wally Wein has arranged a bang-up double header for Friday, night." Exeter will take on their Dashwood rivals while fans will get first glimpse of Lucan in at Dublin, Maroons Win Handily Cord Farrow’s junior eagers won an impressive 65-38 victory in an exhibition match with the Stratford Intermediate A team last Friday night in the local gym. The boys are trying to arrange some good exhibition games to keep in shape for the coming playdowns. As we mentioned before they will be playing in the semi-finals against Amherstburg with home tilt on March 11. Quite A Score That was quite a score senior basketball team of Exeter District High School racked up over Mitchell last week. They trimmed the Mitchell boys to the tune of 103-14. Off To A Good Start It’s a little early to .predict the outcome of the Bowling League championship just yet but at present the Erks are off to a good start having won all eight points. The league-leading Big Six are getting a rough ride having won but a single point. Columnist Pryde should feel bet ter now that his Pinpoppers grabbed off . four points Monday night after being blanked the previous week. Three Winners We understand that , district fans are confused with the mean ing of the groupings in the local W.O.A.A. loop. The "C” group comprises teams from municipal ities under 500 population and includes Crediton. Zurich, Dash wood and Granton. Hensall and Lucan with population over 500 are in the , "B” division, and Exeter is in the "A” group, While they play in the same league during the regular season a the home team won the tilt in the third frame after trailing 2-1 in theTirst and tied at 3-3 in the second. Goal scorers for Hensall were H. Nicholson, Consitt, Little, Kropt and J, Sangster. Dublin scorers were Costello, Woods and Doyle.
