Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mitchell and family of London were Sun­ day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hodgins. Mr. and Mrs. Cooper McCurdy were in London on Wednesday evening of last week attending the “capping” ceremony at Vic­ toria Hospital. Their daughter, Joanne, a student nurse at the hospital, received her cap. We extend congratulations. Miss Helen Tasko of London spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Tasko. Mr. and Mrs. E. O’Brien and daughter, of Arkona, were week­ end visitors with Mr. C. O’Brien. Miss Fern Braithwaite, Alvin- ston, ‘ spent the week-end with Donna Bowden, Miss Joanne McCurdy of Lon­ don spent the week-end at her home. (Intended for last week) Mr, and Mrs. C. Lightfoot and sons were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lightfoot. Mr, R. J. Smith spent a few days last week in Toronto. Mrs. C. O’Brien is spending a few weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Morrissey. THAMES ROAD Misses Elsie Bray, Margaret Cann, Eleanor Dawson and Ilene Jeffery, of London, spent the week-end at their homes here. Mrs. Lome Passmore and baby daughter returned home Wed­ nesday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Tuckey and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Tuckey and family, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Allison and family were Thursday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Passmore. Miss Feme Rodd of London spent the week-end with tMr, and Mrs. Lome Passmore. Mrs. Percy Passmore, and Alice, Mrs. Orville -Cann, Mrs. Aimer Passmore and Mrs. Wil­ liam Rohde attended the trous­ seau tea on Tuesday afternoon last at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Scott in honour of their daughter Audrey. Misses Alice Passmore, Annie Simpson, Dorothy Scott and Ina Harris were guests at the Rus­ sell-Scott wedding on Saturday in Woodham United Church. Miss Betty Allison spent Sun­ day with Miss Ilene Jeffery. A large number of people from this community attended the opening of the new Exeter Dis­ trict High School on .Wednesday last. •Mr. and Mrs. William Rohde visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. William .Thomson of Wood­ ham. A number of people in this community are laid up with bad colds and the flu. Mr. and Mrs. William Allison of Exeter visited on .Sunday with Rev. Mr. -Mair visited on day with Rev. Mr. and Peters of Winthrop. Master Brian Coward of chener is staying with his aunt, Miss June Coward, for some time. Hon. .James jG. and Mrs. Gar­ diner, of Ottawa, Mr. and Mrs. George Allen, of Kirkton, and Mrs. Gardiner attended -church service here and spent the ,day with relatives in the community. Margaret Anderson entertained a number of school friends on Monday evening to a party. The occasion being her ninth birth­ day. Farm Forum was held at the Lumley School Monday evening. The Y.P.U. are invited to Elimville on Sunday evening, February 5, at 8 p.m. to a Fire­ side Meeting. All are cordially invited. The annual meeting will be held on Thursday afternoon, Feb­ ruary 2, at 2 p.m. in the church basement. Play practice was held at the home of Miss June Coward on Tuesday evening of last week. Sunday school next Sunday will be held at .10:15 a.m. and church service at 11:15 a.m. Yarge (’’rowel Attend Community Night A social, evening was 3eld at Thames Road School on Friday evening with a large crowd in attendance. The prizes for euchre were won by the following: Ladies’ high, Mrs. William Rohde; men’s .high, Mr. Mac Uodgert; lone hands, Mr. Mac Hodgert; low, -Mr. Thomas Baliantyne and Mr. Don. Maver. A very delicious lunch .was then served. -Dancing followed. Every­ one reported a good time.
