A successful after-Christmas party was held in the United Church Sunday School room on Wednesday night, December 28, when a large representation of parents and their families and friends attended. Rev. R. A. Brook efficiently acted as chairman for the follow­ ing interesting program; Recita­ tions, Alex Hyde, Steve Kyle, Billy Shaddick, Gerald Chapman, Jerry Drysdale, Billy Ingram; solo, “Away In A Manger", Mas­ ter Bobbie Mickle, accompanied by Mrs. Mickle; playlet, “Babe of Light", Mrs. Lillian Hyde’s class; recitations, Jerry Elder, Marjorie Hyde, Douglas Shirray; ! piano solo, Norma Passmore; short play, “A Sick Baby”, the junior pupils; “Christmas Re­ solutions", an exercise by Gladys Luker’s class; Hop Scotch Polka, song and dance, several scholars; song, “Rudolph, The Red-Nose •Reindeer”, Miss Lammie’s class playlet, “The Story of-the Star" Miss Betty Mickle’s class; ercise entitled “Choice”, Horton’s class; playlet, Shine", senior scholars. The presentation of two in­ structive films followed, “West­ ern Highlands" and “River Watch”. This was directed by Mr. Mickle of Exeter, assisted by Mr. Bill M’ickle of Hensail, Rev. Brook expressed hearty thanks to those responsible for the program. Mr. J. Corbett, S.S. Superintendent, then gave a few remarks, after which he intro­ duced Santa Claus ‘to the aud­ ience. Treats were distributed to all the children. The gathering closed with Mizpah Benediction. the Hu ron Old Boys Hold Annual Meeting Huron Old Boys in Toronto are holding their annual meeting on Monday, January 9, at 8:15 pan. at West Toronto .Y.M.C.A., College and Dovercourt Sts. All members and former Huron resi­ dents are urged to be present for the election of the 19 5,0 com­ mittee. A feature of the evening will be the showing of the colour sound film “The Books .Drive On”, sponsored by the Huron County Library Association. The Huron Old Boys are very inter­ ested in this film since its action is set in Huron County. Refresh­ ments will be served and the ad­ mission -charge will be 50 pents. Chambers, who form­ erly taught school at Hope, B.C. —Central Press Canadian Mrs. Duncan McLean A highly-esteemed resident of Lot 27, South Thames Road, Us­ borne township, Mrs. Duncan, McLean, 76, died nt the home of hei’ daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Doupe, Usborne township, early Thursday eve­ ning. She had been enjoying her usual health until suffering a stfoke on December 12. Since that time her condition had been critical. .She was the former Eu- phemia Morgan, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Morgan (Euphemia Stewart) and was born in Hibbert township on August 18, 1873. She had resid­ ed on the present farm since shortly after her marriage on November 8, 1897 to Mr. Duncan McLean who died on January 8, 1946. She was a faithful membei* of Roys United Church, Fullar- ton township. She is survived by two sons, .Cameron, <350 Huron St., Stratford, and Allan on the home place in Usborne township; two daughters, Mrs. Wm-. (Janet) Doupe, .Usborne township; Mrs. Carman (Isabelle) Harmer, of Fullarton township; one brother, Duncan, in Saskatchewan, and six grandchildren. Her eldest daughter, Flora, died in 1917, and three .brothers and three sis­ ters also died some time ago. The funeral, Monday, was held from the Heath funeral home, 'Mitchell, conducted by ,Rev. Wm. Mair, of Thames Road. Interment was in Roy’s Cemetery. HENSALL Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cook visited during the .holidays with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. ‘Hildebrandt at Leamington.
