Livestock for the week ending Dec.
18 were 3,992 cattle, 1,591 lambs
and goats. On Tuesday fed steers and
heifers sold on a steady market.
Choice steers and heifers sold $77 to
$80 with sales to $85. Second cut
sold $75 to $77. Cows sold $1
higher. On Thursday veal sold on a
strong active trade with beef veal
trading steady and holstein calves
selling $2 to $3 lower. Goats, lambs
and sheep sold on a strong active
trade. On Friday calves and
yearlings sold on a steady market.
There were 276 steers on offer.

Huron East mayor Joe Seili
proposed a hiring freeze throughout
Huron County for municipal
positions until the service delivery
reviews have been completed,
which should be in early 2010.
Seili stipulated that replacement
positions would be exempt from this
motion, but he felt the motion was
necessary since Huron County
council will not be tackling its
budget until January.
The motion was carried.
