the Stratford Aces, then coasted to
the 4-1 victory.

Durham, played a solid two-way
game even though they were held off
the score sheet.

The Brussels Atom Local League
played Drayton.
The game started slowly, but Noah
Terpstra finally started the scoring
with a nice goal, assisted by Brett
Stevenson. Cody Harding took his
turn, assisted by Nolan Johnston.
Drayton finally scored. Terpstra
added two more to complete his
hattrick. Harding added another to
the scoreboard with Mitchell McKee
assisting to make the final score 5-1
for Brussels.
Down in front
The competition was tight as the Blyth Bandits ladies’
broomball team took on the Crushers in a tournament

The Blyth/Brussels PeeWee girlstravelled to Mildmay on Saturday,Dec. 12 in a showdown for first
place in the WOAA league. The first
game of the season with the
Monarchs ended in a 3-3 tie.
The home team carried the play
for the large parts on the first period.
Late in the first the defence pair of
Faith Sebastian and Autumn
Wightman gained control and got
the puck ahead to Mackenzie
Nesbitt, who broke free down the
right side and fired a good shot to
beat the Mildmay goalie to grab the
early lead.
Midway through the second
period the Monarchs evened the
score.
Early in the third a scramble
around the Mildmay net saw LeannePlunkett score with assists fromlinemates Nesbitt and Emma
Strome.
The home team pulled their goalie
with a minute to go and the team
held its ground for the 2-1 victory.
Stick handlers
The Blyth Atoms played in the Silver Stick tournament in Blyth on the weekend. This contest

Local PeeWee girls battle Mildmay
The Blyth/Brussels Atom girls
travelled to Hensall to play BCH.
The team went out confident and
to their surprise BCH came out just
as strong. It was a tough game, but
the squad came out on top with
Samantha Kerr scoring three, Sarah
Strome two and Delayna Smith two.
Goalie Julia Beaven only let three
in.

The Brussels PreTykes came out
fighting and skated hard in the game
against Seaforth recently.
Carsen Heise scored a few with
Andon Piper, Mathew McKee and
Tyson Fischer assisting.
Seaforth scored a couple, but
Luke Fritz got one back.
Christopher Pennington assisted.
Bennett Smith also scored one with
help from Ashton Baxter.
Pre-Tykes play
The Brussels PeeWee Reps hosted
Howick in hockey action last week.
Brussels came out strong and led
the way throughout the game to take
a 9-1 win.
Scoring were Wyatt Ducharme,
Tim Waechter, Scott Dolmage,
Mitch Kellington with a hattrick, and
Hayden TenPas with a hattrick.
Assisting these guys were Waechter,
TenPas, Kellington, Ducharme,
Austin Johnston, Nic Zwep, Reece
McArter and Christopher VanVeen.
Remaining solid in net is goalie
Matt McNichol.
