Here are the answers to last
week’s trivia questions. Clement
Clark Moore was the author of the
classic poem, A Visit from St.
Nicholas. It must have been quite a
change from his work as a literary
professor.
The Gift of the Magi was written
by O. Henry. In this Christmas
‘love’ story Jim pawned his watch
to buy combs for Della’s beautiful
hair. Della cut and sold her hair to
buy a watch fob for Jim.
And Dr. Seuss’ real name was
Theodore Geisel. He wrote the
Grinch in 1957. His first published
children’s book was, And to Think
That I Saw it on Mulberry Street.
Before he wrote children’s books,
he penned the advertising slogan,
Quick Henry, the Flit.
Of interest is the fact that
Theodore Geisel in his other ‘life’
created military training videos.
Seuss was his mother’s maiden
name.
