The Blyth-Brussels Bantam girls
played three games recently after
their exciting weekend in Waterloo.
Their first game was on Monday,
Nov. 9 in Tiverton. The girls were a
little bit tired from all the hockey
they played on the weekend and they
came out flat, with a 5-2 loss. But
after a few days rest, they knew they
would be ready to play their best.
They played their next game on
Saturday, Nov. 14 at home against
Lucknow. It was a very good game
with Heidi Raynard getting a
hattrick and Jordan Sholdice scoring
one point to leave the score at 4-2.
The defence and goaltender did their
usual best to keep the score in the
locals’ favour.
Sunday, Nov. 15 they headed to
Kincardine. This was the first time
playing this team and the girls didn’t
know what to expect. They played
well again with Courtney Middegaal
scoring assisted by Sholdice. Then
Sholdice scored with an assist from
Nicole Middegaal.
The game ended in a 2-1 victory.
The Blyth Midget Local League
team was on the road again to play
the Tiverton squad. This game
would be the first of the season that
all the forwards and defence would
hit the ice.
The team came out to play and
with end-to-end action they gave
their fans a game worth watching.
The first period saw no score from
either team as Blyth’s Alec Lorentz
turned away many shots.
In the second, John Lecomte
scored assisted by Collin Whitfield
and Ryan Sjaarda which turned out
to be the only goal of the game.
Blyth took the 1-0 victory.
Nov. 8, the Brussels Atom Reps
hosted Milverton.
It was late in the first when Jack
Pipe netted the first goal of the
game.
Milverton tied it up late in the
second, then took the lead eight
seconds later.
Logan Kellington flipped one in
over the goalie’s shoulder with just
44 seconds left in the second period.
Three minutes into the third,
Delayna Smith put one in, assisted
by Pipe. This gave Brussels a 3-2
lead. Wyatt Machan, assited by
Kellington, tipped one in while the
goalie was watching from the other
side of the net.
Milverton got one more in before
the end of the game but Brussels
