The curling action got underway
this past week at the Wingham Golf
and Curling Club.
Sunday, Nov. 1 the first clinic was
held and organizers Bob and Wayne
were happy with the turnout. There
were 12 curlers of all ages showing
a true interest to learn and finding
out it is not quite as easy as it looks
on television. The group all seemed
to have a very positive attitude.
On Nov. 2 the action got
underway with the Monday men’s
league. Winners of the first draw
were the Stewart Leedham and
Barry Simpson teams.
Tuesday night the competitive
league kicked off with all four
sheets of ice seeing action. Winners
were the Earl Fitch, Kyle Forster,
Don Edgar and Calvin Ruttan
teams.
On Wednesday the mixed league
started with some exciting action
with two skips, Karen Burke and
Tammy Adams having to decide
their game with a tie-breaking draw
to the button. Burke calmly went
first and drew right on the “lid” to
pick up the win.
The other winning skips were
John (Dybes) Dailleboust and Earl
Fitch.
Thursday action saw the family
mixed league get underway. The
winning skips were Kabrina
Bishop, Kyle Forster, Phil Eadie
and Elli Schimanski.
The Belgrave mixed teams also
got started Thursday with Larry
Robinson, Murray Shiell, Murray
McNichol and Don Shiell’s teams
all picking up wins.
Friday night mixed had only four
rinks out to start their year. Winning
skips were Bill MacDonald and
Wayne Waechter.
