THE LOWEST OR ANY TENDER NOT NECESSARILY ACCEPTED BUY? SELL? TRY CLASSIFIED BUY? SELL? TRY CLASSIFIED The OPP are investigating a string of break and enters in Central Huron and Huron East recently. Residents are being urged to take extra precautions to protect their property. This would include locking all doors to your residence and outbuildings. In some cases it would appear that the suspects in these thefts may be knocking at the residence prior to breaking in. One resident answered her door to a male who reported he was having tire problems, then left the area. A total value of stolen items from three separate incidents is estimated at over $32,000. In one entry a glass window was smashed to a mud room, then access gained to the residence. In the other two break and enters, doors were left unlocked for the thieves. Anyone seeing any suspicious persons or vehicles in their area is urged to try to obtain a plate number and description of the person or vehicle and then call the OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122. A 41-year-old Central Huron man was charged after he drove past a stopped bus with its lights flashing and stop arm extended. The incident occurred on Oct. 30 at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Base Line Road in Central Huron. The driver is now facing a $490 fine with six demerit points attached. October, November and December are peak times when deer and other types of wild animals venture out onto highways as this is their mating and migration time periods. Peak times for collisions are 5 a.m. – 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. Keep in mind though that any encounter may occur at any time. The OPP are recommending motorists watch, steer, brake and stop to prevent getting injured or killed during an encounter with any wildlife on the roadways. Watch the road ahead by scanning from shoulder to shoulder. Watch for yellow wildlife warning signs. Slow down in these areas. Use high beams and watch for glowing eyes of animals. If you see glowing eyes – expect that other animals are nearby. Steer in control. Never swerve to avoid hitting an animal. Brake firmly but don’t lock up your wheels. Slowing will provide you with control. Stop safely. Remember other animals may follow. Stay in control if hitting an animal is unavoidable. Slicing Roast beef was on the menu last Sunday at Memorial Hall in Blyth as the Trinity Anglican Church hosted a supper. Terry Nethery was on hand to carve the meat for the hungry diners.
