A Canadian Night of a Thousand Dinners will be held next week in Brussels to raise funds for the Canadian Land Mine Foundation. Mary Thomas of Brussels is holding the dinner at her home, 429 Burgess St., on Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. This is a potluck dinner to raise funds for the Canadian Land Mine Foundation. One hundred per cent of the funds raised go to eliminating land mines. According to Thomas, in the last few years there has been great success in locating land mines using dogs. To date, she says, there have been no fatalities involving these dogs, but there have been some accidents involving humans. Every year, she said, she receives a package to prepare her to host the dinner, which involves an informational DVD and several other sources of information. On Nov. 7, that information will be relayed to those in attendance and discussed further. For more information, contact Thomas at 519-877-9224. ‘Dinner’ to be held in Brussels Bakers’ secretIt was the Blyth Festival’s dinner and auction on Saturdaynight.
