The stewards want people to share their talents for a silent auction on Nov. 21 or make a donation towards the auction. The call to worship was followed by the first hymn, What a Friend We Have in Jesus and the prayer of approach. The scripture reading was from Philippians 4: 10-20. The children were asked to come to the front for their story time. Rev. Gary Clark had a basket of pennies which he said was his. He was being greedy when he said the pennies were all his. He asked the children to take a handful of pennies and give one to each person in the congregation. This made him feel better and made them feel better too. Everyone was asked to deposit the pennies in the jar in the narthex as the Sunday school is collecting Pennies for Pader. The children in Pader need money for food. In past years the Sunday school has collected school supplies, helped pay for uniforms for the school andcollected money to buy goats for thechildren of Pader, Africa.Rev. Clark’s message to the adultswas Greed/Generosity are of theSame Coin. The choir anthem was, It is NoSecret (Blyth United’s anniversarysong). The next hymn was, Like a Mighty River Flowing. There was a dedication of the newhymn books and the powerpointprojector which have beenpurchased with money received bythe choir from the Aubrey TollEstate. The last hymn was, Saviour Againto your Dear Name was followed bythe commissioning and benedictionand the singing of the Three-Fold Amen. That year he had raised money for a defibrillator for the Blyth Fire Department. This past weekend, his former ‘trainee’ Const. Patrick Armstrong, through the Dave Mounsey Foundation donated a defibrillator to Blyth Memorial Hall.
