By Brittany Nigh A new school year is always filled with excitement and at St. Anne’s Catholic Secondary School, we are thrilled to share our latest news and events with the community. September is a busy month and we were fortunate to come together many times as a school to celebrate. We acknowledged the academic achievements of numerous students at our Awards of Excellence assembly, learned about kindness and compassion, danced up a storm, and welcomed 142 new Grade 9 students to the school. During Eagle’s Spirit Week, the annual Walk-a-Thon was held and we raised a total of over $9,000. The goal this year was to give back to the community so accordingly, the money will be divided between the Local Food Bank and Huron Addictions Services. In addition, picnic tables will be purchased for extra courtyard seating. I do not have a lot to report this week from the club so this column would be a great week to thank all the sponsors, members, green fee- ers, workers and most of all the volunteers. Since I came on board the middle of July everyone has made me feel welcome and respected. The members have been patient and helpful. The sponsors faithful and appreciated. The walk-on green fee golfers have came out in large numbers (hopefully we can talk some of them into becoming new members). Bruce, Mark and Gregg have the course in the best shape it has been in for years. Cheryl, Amber, Julie, Elizabeth, Ed and Trevor were great workers and excellent organizers. The captains of the Tuesday night ladies, Carol Oriold, Wednesday seniors, Bill Johnston and Thursday men, Bill (Buff) Kerr have been fantastic. The volunteers have been so helpful and without them the club could not run and be successful. Until next spring may all your “chips” fall where you want and may all your “putts” be few. OUT OF BOUNDS NEWS The club will be involved in a fundraiser on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the Clinton Casino. Details available at the pro shop.
