Only councillor Paul Gowing voted against each motion. (Councillor Mark Beaven was not present until later in the meeting). Earlier in the meeting council had turned down a motion by councillor Lynn Hoy to purchase the Wingham Fire Hall as part of its settlement. The cost as listed in the department’s list of assets is $331, 500. Only Hoy and mayor Dorothy Kelly supported the motion. Council also accepted a revised map of areas to be served by the North Huron and Huron East fire departments and will proceed to prepare and mail a request for proposals to meet a target date of Nov. 3. As well, council accepted the job profile for the position of community fire safety officer and will advertise the position.
