Cooking
The sun was up and it was time to eat last weekend in
Auburn as the Lions held breakfast at the community hall.
Pancakes, eggs and bacon were on the menu, but it was
Lloyd Morley who was on hashbrown duty. (Shawn Loughlin photo)
The Belgrave Seniors Community
Club met on Oct. 2 at noon for a
potluck lunch. The president, Muriel
Coultes welcomed 21 members and
11 guests and everyone joined to
sing grace.
Following the meal Muriel read a
story from the Seniors magazine and
Donna Shaw read, The Death of
Dough Boy.
Barbara Anderson introduced the
speaker, John Looser, a recent
newcomer to Belgrave, who builds
ornamental birdhouses. He likes to
use recycled material to construct
the large apartment-style
birdhouses. There are two on display
containing apartments with
removable bottoms for easy
cleaning.
Les Shaw thanked him with a gift.
During the business meeting the
fall zone rally was announced to be
held in Dungannon on Oct. 8. Jim
Hunter reported on the arena board
meeting and told of their trip to
attend the plowing match at Earlton.
The birthdays and anniversaries
were acknowledged.
Donations to the Alzheimer
Society amounted to $57.
The next meeting will be the
Christmas turkey dinner on Friday,
Dec. 4 at noon.
The meeting closed by singing,
God Save the Queen.
