were asked to find five helpful things
on a sewing pattern. They shared
answers, went over the tissue
pattern, and matched symbols with
their meanings.
After, the members said the 4-H
pledge and answered roll call:
describe your fabric and how to care
for it.
Then, leaders asked members to
identify an item.Next, everyone split up to sewseam samples, cut, iron, and sewfabrics, and finish theirmeasurements.Diety Bos helped members sew
their seam samples.
Members enjoyed a snack then did
the meeting three roll call: sewing
machine review.
On Friday, Sept. 4, the Wawanosh
Sewing Machines spent the morning
in the Auburn Lions Hall working on
their sewing projects for meetings
four and five of the club.
The meeting started with the
pledge and roll call, which hadmembers answer review questionsabout using a sewing machine andthe different types of seams.Next the senior members gatheredto talk about the samples they had to
do: a dart, gathering and the slip
stitch.
Junior leader Kristina Drennan
helped them with these, and all of
them finished these samples while
the junior members worked on their
projects or seam samples.
The members took a break to
snack on some vegetables that
Eugenia Pentland and Scott
Jefferson had grown. They made atasty treat in the middle of sewing.Members started to wrap up themeeting. They got together to cleanup and decided that since they hadspent a lot of time at the last two
meetings sewing, another one should
be held to catch up on book work. The members decided to meet atJeffersons’ on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.Cathy Drennan also remindedthem that their projects should bedone by then if they would like to
enter them in the fair.
