Visiting a couple of weeks ago with
Keith and Gloria Wilbee were
Gloria’s cousins from Birmingham,
England, Andrew and Diane Randle
and their children Alex and
Charolette. They enjoyed a family
day in Kincardine meeting other Hart
family cousins. Activities included
trips to Grand Bend and Goderich
beaches and horseback riding at
Home on the Range, Londesborough.
They also enjoyed visits to
Stratford and London and a fun-
filled, three-day visit to Niagara
Falls. The group enjoyed a meal
together at the top of the CN Tower
before saying goodbye.
Neil McGavin had an enjoyable
day on Thursday showing Rev. Peter
and his wife Janieh around. They saw
the area around Bluevale and the
town of Wingham. They came back
and stopped in Brussels at Cinnamon
Jim’s for lunch, where I met up with
them. We had an enjoyable chat over
lunch before I went back to work.
Enjoying vacations in the past
couple of weeks are Klaas and
Shelley Jorritsma and their daughter
and husband Richelle and Ryan
Smith. They travelled to
Summerside, PEI to celebrate with
Shelley’s brother Randy on the
occasion of his 50th birthday. Randy
and his family Cathy (Sholdice) and
children, Lacey, Jodi and Traviss all
helped Dad celebrate the milestone.
The group from Ontario had a great
trip and great weather while away for
the week.
Celebrating their 25th wedding
anniversary with a trip were Bruce
and Michelle Blake. They went to
Las Vegas for a change of pace.
While there, they saw the Jersey Boys
show and Donny and Marie and
report both were excellent. Michelle
said they played the slots a bit, were
up a bit, down a bit and had a good
time. Welcome back and
congratulations on your 25th
anniversary.
Celebrating a different milestone
was Jim Blake. A birthday party was
held at the White Carnation in
Holmesville for around 65 relatives,
neighbours and friends. The group
was entertained with music by the
Riverview Band. Friend Pete DeJong
is in this new band and they did agreat job.A little game provided bydaughters Heather, Lisa and Lorraineto prove that Jim can still keep upwith the young pups was enjoyed.Jim along with six of his nephewslined up in front of the stage. T-shirtswere placed 20 feet away and thegroup had to race to the shirts and put
them on. Jim was the winners and
had his shirt on quite quickly. Of
course it didn’t help that the t-shirts
for the young pups had been frozen
first.
Congratulatory wishes for Jim.
It was a beautiful afternoon for the
wedding of Brad Knight and
Christine Workman in Mitchell on
Saturday. The couple was wed by
Brad’s uncle, Rev. Kenneth Knight.
Around 130 family, friends,
neighbours and co-workers attended.
Christine’s children, Jamie from
Black Falls, Alberta, Krista Haggitt
from Blyth and Michelle Smith of
Egmondville and Brad’s daughter
Janine Knight stood up with their
parents.
A dinner and reception was held at
the new Brodhagen Community
Centre. The co-emcees for the
evening were close friends of the
couple, Linda McDonald and Danica
McNichol. The pair had been a little
disappointed to not be in the wedding
party as maybe flowergirls or maybe
the soloists, so they improvised and
displayed both their talents of
walking down the aisle and their
singing abilities.
The girls did a great job the rest of
the night and to have the couple kiss,
guests had to tell a story about the
couple. We heard some very funny
tales of each of them.
Congratulations to Brad and
Christine Knight.
The party continued on Sunday for
Brad and Christine as they had a
family time together on Sunday.
Home from St. John, New Brunswick
for the wedding was Brad’s sister
Joanne with husband Weldon and
children Andrew and Allison.
Christine’s son Jamie, home from
Alberta for the week, was returning
on Monday, so they had a lovely day
together with the families.
Saturday night was also the
celebration of the 50 plus one
anniversary of George and Pat
Langlois. The Brussels, Morris and
Grey Community Centre was full of
well wishers for the happy couple.
Daughter Susan and husband Bill
along with grandchildren Curtis,
Brent and Maurissa did a great job
during the evening.
The family provided a wonderful
evening of dancing, and speeches,
presentations and comicalentertainment for Pat and George. Aslide show of family pictures over theyears played during the evening.George has been well known in thecommunity for his hairstylingbusiness since 1964, his committedinvolvement in the Optimist Club, men’s recreational hockey, men’sfastball tournament and other minor
sports activities.
Pat has kept busy in the community
working alongside George in the
hairdressing business, a photographer
for the newspaper, selling Avon and
lately working at Cinnamon Jim’s.
Attending Pat and George’s party
were Max and Barb Watts, who many
people were happy to see. They had a
great visit with many Brussels folks.
They stayed at Murray and Stephanie
Kellingtons’ while there.
Returning from vacation are
Greg, Nanci, Evan and Danielle
Ducharme. They spent the biggestpart of the week at a cottage nearDorset. They had great weather forthe first few days and then the raincame along. The cottage they were atis on an island, accessible by boatonly. They spent time swimming andbeing outdoors during the hotweather and then family games, movies and cards filled the rainy
time. They returned a day early but
had a great time while away.
Our sympathies are expressed to
the Merkley family and to Pauline
and Ron Bennett on the passing of
Marie Merkley. Marie was well
known to many Walton area folks and
had just celebrated her 99th birthday
Celebrating birthdays this past
week were Jim Blake, Dorothy Kelly,
Tyler Eckert, Tyler Leslie Ribey,
Olene Dennis, Sandra Huether, Paul
Ryan and Jordan Shortreed.

A blood type clinic in Blyth last week served as a precursor
to this week’s blood donor clinic at the Blyth Community
Centre. Prospective donors came in to the clinic to find out
what their blood type is, if they didn’t know already. Marisa

Monday night baseball basics had
about a dozen children taking part in
the night’s activities.
They have been having a really
great time and the kids are learning a
lot. The proper way of throwing,
catching and best of all, hitting and
running the bases. Blaine Marks
along with helpers Chuck Gulutzen
and Jerry Zwep this week are
impressed with the improvement the
children are showing.
