away suddenly as the result of a
tragic accident, on Saturday, July 11,
2009. He was in his 72nd year.
Lawrence was the father of Wendy
Barlow and her husband Sheldon
Leonard of Fordwich, Rhonda
Barlow of Charlottesville, Virginia
and Duane Barlow of Burford. He
was the grandfather of Meagan,
Daniel and Erin. Lawrence was the
brother of Myrtle Smith of Calgary,
Alberta, Clifford and Mary Barlow
of Markdale, Grant and Willie
Barlow of Ancaster, and Geoff and
Susan Barlow of Owen Sound.
He was predeceased by his
brothers Wells, Sinclair, Homer, and
Howard, and by his sisters Irene
Kirk and Marion Moyer.
A graveside service will be held at
Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel on
Friday, July 17 at 2 p.m. Rev.
George Russell will officiate.
Memorial donations to the Spina
Bifida Association or Epilepsy
Canada would be appreciated, and
may be made through the Eaton
Funeral Home, Listowel.

ARNOLD COOK
Mr. Arnold Elmer Cook, formerly
of Belgrave and Blyth passed away
at Royal Terrace, Palmerston on
Friday, July 10, 2009. He was in his
83rd year.
Arnold was the husband of Erma
(Bailey) Cook of Listowel. He was
the father of Sharon Cook of
London, Janet and Lyle Denny of
RR1, Gowanstown, Jeff and Vicki
Cook of Strathroy, and Brad and
Leslie Cook of Parkhill. He was the
grandfather of Aleshia and Janelle
Denny, Brandon and Candace Cook,
and C.J. and Jesse Cook. Arnold was
the brother of Violet and Ron Taylor
of Victoria, B.C. and Ruth and Garth
McClinchey of Goderich.
His sister Phyllis Boak and her
husband Jim predeceased him.
Visitation was held at the EatonFuneral Home, Listowel on Tuesday,
July 14 from 1 p.m. until the time of
the funeral service at 2 p.m. Rev.
Don Vair officiated.
Interment was in Fairview
Cemetery, Listowel.

BOB HIGGINS
Surrounded by his family at
Victoria Hospital, London on
Saturday, July 11, 2009, Robert
Alvie Higgins of Blyth passed away
in his 65th year.
Bob was the beloved husband of
Carole Higgins. He was the loving
father of Sherri and Chris, Doug and
Barb, Dennis and Rachel and Ronald
and Calista. He was the stepfather of
Peter and Erin. Bob was the dear
grandfather of Robert, Sean, Tricia,
and Kele and great-grandfather of
Summer. He was the brother and
brother-in-law of Mary Agnes andDon, Ann and Jerry and Marilyn.
Bob was predeceased by his
parents Alvie and Jean Higgins and
his brother Jack.
At Bob’s request, cremation has
taken place. A celebration of his life
will be held at his home in Blyth on
Sunday, July 26 between 1 p.m. and
4 p.m. rain or shine. Bring chairs and
memories.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer
Society would be appreciated as
expressions of sympathy.
