We are the
Warriors of
EWPS! Fellow
graduates,
parents and
teachers, tonight
is the night that
we have been
working toward
for the past 10 years.
Graduation day for some here
tonight it brings tears and for others
it brings cheers.
Over the last 10 years at East
Wawanosh we’ve learned many
things, made many memories and
most importantly we have become
great friends.
As I thought about what to say and
how to write this speech, I decided to
think about being a team. This class
is like a team in many ways. Each of
us here is an important team player
and our coaches are our teachers and
our families – parents, grandparents,
siblings, etc.
Together we have discovered that
to be an awesome team member you
need to be proud to be a warrior so
let’s spend a few minutes strolling
down memory lane.
Think way back to that first day
you boarded that big yellow bus and
headed down the road to
kindergarten. If you were like me
you were probably a little afraid,
maybe you cried or maybe your
mom did. In my case you couldn’tmake it up the first step but no need
to panic, my big brother lifted me up
and Mr. Les took my hand and I was
on my way.
As we pulled into school Mrs.
Wilson was waiting and together
with Mrs. Miller and Mrs.
MacGregor they soon taught us the
routines and before we knew it we
were ready for our next big
challenge, Grade 1 with Miss
Mathers.
Miss Mathers taught us how
important it was to read and write
and even how to add and subtract.
She always had the ability to make
everything better.
Before we knew it we were ready
for Grade 2 with Mrs. Walker. She
taught us how to spell big words and
in my case, Aunt Kim, even gave me
a new identity, the girl who sleeps
with pigs.
In Grade 3 we had our first
experience with EQAO and Mrs.
Thomson spent all year getting us
ready. Our team continued to grow
and learn as Miss Dunnell had us
reading across Canada and learning
how to become lords and ladies.
Mrs. Culbert taught us how to use
planners and all about homework. In
Grade 6, Ms Elder prepared us for
the second round of EQAO.
Grade 7 was the first year we were
ever separated. Some went to Mr.
LeRoux’s class and others stayed
with Ms Elder. We all survived but
we were very glad to be together
again this year for our final collage
but you taught us that we don’t have
to be smart to use a smart board (you
thought we weren’t listening).
Finally, to Mme. Gardiner, French
will never be the same, vous êtes un
excellent professeur, merci
beaucoups.
To all of our teachers who have
helped us become who we are
tonight we thank you for sharing
your knowledge along the way and
coaching us to be the best we could
be.
Also to each and every educational
assistant, to our secretary, and to our
bus drivers thank you for your help
along the way.
Mrs. A-G I know your job better
than most people because I live with
it each day. I want to thank you for
your leadership and for always being
strict but fair.
For the past 10 years this small
school has been our school. We have
created a special team from a special
class. The nice thing about teamwork
is that you always have others on
your side. We have truly become the
warriors of EWPS. We are the
Wonderfully,Awesome, Remarkable,
Rare, Incredible, Outstanding,
Responsible, Stupendous graduating
class of 2009. We are a class, with
class. Congratulations team!
