Another Canada Day gone, special
shirts, hats and all the other red and
white treasures are tucked away for
another year.
We had a great time celebrating
birthday 142 for Canada in Barrie
with Curt, Julie and Ella. The rain
stopped, the sun shone, the music
played, the people smiled and had a
good time.
The waterfront in Barrie is a nice
spot, lots of space, nice flowers,
good walkways, sailboats to admire,
a family spot, and all the
granddaughters were there. Lucky
me.
One of the unplanned events and a
delight for the older girls was
watching a family of ferrets playing
among the rocks at the water’s edge.
One of the local folk told us that the
mother and eight babies have taken
up residence and prove daily there is
good fishing on the bay.
The ferrets were having a good
game of hide and seek, much to the
delight of the girls.
It was camping week for us at
Earl Rowe Provincial Park so lots of
biking, reading and eating. The pink
lady slippers were in full bloom
under the evergreens, such delicate
wonders. Chris, Lara, Jordan, Robyn
and Jill joined us for a few days
making campfires so much more
entertaining.
Nothing like children to see the
world from a different angle and
take us along for the ride – good for
them.
Summer jobs are in full swing –
long days, hard work, new
experiences all making the days of
summer pass quickly for many of
our students.
The Canadian Cancer Society
wish to thank folks of Great Ontario
Foodland for the successfulbarbecue held recently.Approximately $680 was raised. Thanks everyone.Andrew Watson is on an adventurein eastern Quebec for the next monthwith several other F.E. Madillstudents at French camp. He liveswith a local family where English is
rarely used and spends his days with
students all learning to speak
French. Oh more good stories to
hear.
Thirty-five years we’ve been
privileged to have Canadian theatre
at our doorstep. All the people who
believed that rural Ontario, even
Huron County would support live
theatre can now smile and
knowingly give a small I-told-you-
so smile. Thanks to all the folks who
fought and worked and worried in
the early years, in fact many of them
are still doing all the same things.
Thank you.
Now to the rest of you, go buy
your tickets now.
Enjoy these days of summer.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
