Majestic Women’s Institute of
Brussels met June 10 at president
Yvonne Knight’s home for a potluck
picnic. Eleven members and four
guests were present.
After a short business meeting,
guests from the Cranbrook 4-H
spoke on a successful year and the
plans for next year. Some of the
clubs will be baking, best foot
forward about proper etiquette, and
farm safety.
UFO was held June 9 at Yvonne
Knight’s home.
The institute raffle was drawn on
Saturday, June 6 at the elimination
dance at the Brussels arena. Winner
of the first-prize quilt was Joanne
Davis of Wingham. The second
prize, a fabric photo album went to
Anna and Bruce Hamilton of
Brussels and the third prize, a
suncatcher went to Beth Earl of
Ethel. Money will go to the new
library.
UFO meetings will continue over
the summer. The Institute will be
taking a break however and the next
meeting is Sept. 9 at 1:30 p.m. in
Brussels library basement.
KEITH JACKLINKeith Jacklin of RR2, Bluevale,passed away suddenly at his
residence on Wednesday, June 10,
2009. He was in his 62nd year.
Keith will be greatly missed by his
many friends at Tim Hortons. He
loved spending time with his dog
and riding his four-wheeler.
Keith was the dear son of Doris
(Hall) Jacklin of RR2, Bluevale and
the late Archie Jacklin; and the
loving brother of Gloria Bowman of
Listowel. He will be fondly
remembered by his aunts, uncles,
cousins, nieces and nephews.
Keith was predeceased by his
sister Ruth Farrish (2003), his
brother Barry Jacklin (2008) and his
brother-in-law Wayne Bowman
(2008).A memorial service to celebrateKeith’s life was held at Ethel United
Church on Friday, June 12 at 11 a.m.
with Pastor Sandra Cable officiating.
Interment followed in Mount
Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel.
As expressions of sympathy,
memorial donations to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation would be
appreciated by the family.
