Greeting at Blyth United Church
Sunday, June 14 was Joann
MacDonald. Ushering were Cliff
Snell, Pat Bernard, Lois van Vliet
and Deb Hakkers.
Rev. Gary Clark welcomed
everyone to church on the second
day of Pentecost and baptism
Sunday.
The call to worship was followed
by the prayer of approach and the
singing of the first hymn, Come and
Find the Quiet Centre. The gospel reading was from John3: 1-17. The hymn, Shout for Godwith the word shout replaced bywhisper was sung. For the children’s story, Rev. Clarkblew up a balloon and let it breaksurprising everyone. God surprisespeople too.He held up a sheet of paper with a
lot of road signs on it. Road signs
guide people to where they are
going. The scriptures are like road
signs as they guide along life’s
way.
The choir sang the anthem,
Because He Lives.
Elizabeth Herman, Jessica
Sparling, Anne Elliott and Barb
Richmond sang the verses and the
choir joined in on the chorus.
One of the verses was dedicated to
Asher Clark, the baby to be baptized.
Rev. Clark’s message to the adults
was, Ah to be Born Again. The term
Born Again only appears once in the
Bible. Jesus talks more about love,
prayer and many other things. Many
people’s lives have changed because
of their faith in Jesus.
People are born again when they
hold their newborn baby. Life
changes in many ways.
The 10 Commandments are aguide to life. Jesus asks people to be BornAgain with love and to follow the 10Commandments.Ross and Shawna Clark, theparents, were asked to come forwardand present Asher Allan CharlesClark for baptism. Rev. Clarkintroduced Asher to the congregation
after baptizing him.
The hymn, Come In, Come In
and Sit Down was followed
by the offering and offertory
prayer, the prayers of the community
and the singing of The Lord’s
Prayer.
The last hymn was, In the Bulb
There is a Flower.
