By Matthew Swart
The first meeting of the Central
Huron 4-H Swine Club was held at
the Winthrop United Church on May
6. The leaders for the club are Don
Dodds, Darrell Bergsma and Barb
and Ray Storey.
The club’s focus this year will be
on the handling and transportation
for all ages and stages of swine.
The first order of business was to
elect the club officers. There are 12
members in this year’s club. The
officers are as follows: president,
Alyssa Cronin; vice-president, Sean
Ryan; secretary, Zach Drost and
press reporter, Matthew Swart.
The members discussed when to
get the pigs they would be raising to
show at the achievement at the
Seaforth Fall Fair in September. As
the county show will be a bit later
this year the members would not
want to get their pigs too early in
case they get too big to show.
The leaders provided the members
with a delicious snack to end the
meeting.
