The hymn-sing selections were, Give to Us Laughter and You Never Saw Old Galilee. The call to worship was read in unison and the opening prayer was said responsively. For the First of All Creation was the opening praise hymn. The children’s choir sang two numbers accompanied by Elizabeth Stennett at the piano and directed by Lila Procter. After the singing, Teacher, Brave and Bold, the children came to the front. Mr. Barnes told them of The Little Red Hen. In the story the little red hen saw a lot of hungry people in the world so she went to the seed dealer for seed and asked the farmer for land and went to the farm supply store for fertilizer. All the farmers helped plant and harvest the corn. Just like The Little Red Hen, the congregation at Knox United Church plants and harvests the corn to help people who are hungry. Mr. Barnes gave each of the children corn to take home and plant which would be ready to harvest in 72 days. After prayer the children adjourned to Sunday school. Mary Thomas read the scripture Matthew 25: 14-40 and Psalm 107 was read responsively. The congregation sang, In Loving Partnership We come. Mr. Underwood spoke on his involvement with Foodgrains Bank. Ken Procter and Ben Procter took up the offering. The singing of Your Work O God Needs Many Hands was followed by the offertory prayer and the prayers of the people said in unison. The closing hymn was In Christ There is No East or West.
