The only weather element missing is snow and hopefully by the time the paper comes out, it hasn’t done that. It was hot, cold, dry wet and frosty prior, and for, the long weekend. It makes me glad I’m not a camper. Congratulations to Scott Robinson on his election as president of the Canadian Swine Breeders Association at the annual general meeting in Joliette, Quebec. A fantastic way to spend Mother’s Day is to take a trip with your daughters. Agnes TenPas did just that. Agnes and daughter Patricia McKay flew to Las Vegas to meet up with her other daughter Linda and her husband Pete from B.C. They were also joined by Linda’s friend Pat. The group had a fantastic time the five days they were away. They went to see the Donny and Marie Osmond show and Agnes reports it was wonderful. Patricia and Agnes also went to see comedian Carrot Top, and enjoyed that show. Agnes reports that they walkedand walked and walked. They sawthe beautiful lights and fountainsthat were gorgeous at night as wellas the brilliant lights of the hotels and casinos. It was a great trip and theyreturned late Wednesday evening, tired but feeling joyous for the timethey had spent together. There is a family on Moncrieffline extra happy these days. Tim andLisa Fritz and family have movedinto their new home. I’m sure it’sbeen an anxious time waiting for its completion but I’m sure it feels great to move in. Congrats to the Fritz family. The meeting began with a quick game of flags led by the club’s youth leaders Joel Brodie and Fraser Falconer. Members first discussed the shows in which they would be participating such as the Bayfield and Seaforth fairs and the Brussels show and sale. Afterwards they began nominations for the club office positions. The results were: president, Fraser Falconer; vice- president, Joel Brodi; secretary, Amber Brodi; press reporter, Zach Drost. The paperwork for registration was handed out. This year it costs $60 to enter 4-H for the year. For that price you can join as many clubs as you want in 2009. A copy of the handbook, Basic Care For Lambs was given to each member. The date for the next meeting is June 13 at 9:30 a.m. at the Pullens. This will be a double meeting and members are reminded to bring squares or a dessert to the barbecue lunch that will finish up the meeting. They had a snack of watermelon and lemonade before the meeting was concluded with the 4-H motto, Learn To Do By Doing. If any youth, ages 10-21 are interested in joining the 4-H sheep club, they can contact leaders Florence Pullen or Deb Falconer prior to the next meeting. 7 tables in play at Cranbrook party Huron 4-H Sheep Club holds first meeting Chess master Jacob Roth, a Grade 2 student from the Grey Central Public School chess team played in a tournament in Goderich recently and came away with a second place finish.
