The former Brenda Glousher, was the beloved wife of Ken Cucksey. She was the loving mother of Chrystal Cucksey of Toronto, Jennifer Cucksey and Sam Townsend of Gloucester, Massachusetts, Jonathan Cucksey and Dr. Sophie Farrell of Palmerston and Bridget and Trevor Vautour of Chalk River. She was the daughter of Jack Glousher of RR 4, Wingham. Brenda was the sister of Barbara and Peter Vossen and their children Stepheny and Devin of St. Marys. She was predeceased by her husband James Smart and by mother Betty (Casemore) Glousher (February 2009). Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service was held at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Wayne Beamer officiated. On-line condolences may be made at www.mcburneyfuneralhome.com GRACE KASSIES Surrounded by her loving family at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Thursday, May 14, 2009, Grace Johanna Kassies passed away in her 83rd year. She was the beloved wife of the late John Kassies Sr., who predeceased her in 2000. She was the dear mother of John and Lorie Kassies of Clinton, Martha and Dave Bricker of Kitchener, Rita and Walter Leppington of Clinton, Jerry and Dorothy Kassies of London, Ron Kassies of Londesborough and his friend Irene, Andy and Fran Kassies of Ilderton, Angeline and John Langendoen of Hamilton and daughter-in-law, Trudy Kassies of Clinton. She was Oma to 17 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Grace is also survived by three brothers, five sisters and their families and three brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law and their familiesall in Holland.Friends were received at the Westmount Christian Reformed Church, 405 Drury Lane, Strathroy on Tuesday, May 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. where a funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 20 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Anthonie Vanden Ende officiating. Interment in Clinton Cemetery took place Wednesday at 10 a.m. Donations to the Strathroy Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements were entrusted to Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy. MURRAY HARRISON LYON Murray Lyon of Londesborough passed away suddenly at his residence on Saturday, May 16, 2009. He was in his 80th year. Murray was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Lyon who predeceased him in 1994 and loving father and father-in-law of Bradley Lyon and Rose Ann Alexander of Dawson Creek, B.C. and Deanna Lyon and Ken Brown of London. He was the dear grandfather of Maya and step-grandfather of Brandon, Jaimee Leigh and Ryan. He was thedear brother of Bert and Joanne Lyonof Londesborough. Murray will also be missed by his aunt Edythe Beacom. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Laura Lyon and his sister Marguerite Neil. Friends were received at the Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd., Blyth Visitation Centre, 407 Queen St., Blyth on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service was held at the Londesborough United Church on Thursday, May 21 at 11 a.m. Rev. Pat Cook officiated. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Historical Construction Equipment Association of Canada would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. MURIEL MATHESON Surrounded by her family, Muriel Colleen (Josling) Matheson, passed away peacefully at Caressant Care, Friday, May 15 in her 80th year. Muriel was the beloved wife of David Matheson for 55 years. She was the dear mother of Donna and Jim Snider and Mark and Janice Matheson, all of RR 1, Listowel. She was the loving grandmother of Kelli and friend Chris Di Carlo, Jason and friend Alyssa Ament, Lisa and fiancé Jo Neves, Laura and Jonathon.Muriel was the sister of June andJack Phillips of London, and sister- in-law of Gordon and Doris Matheson of RR1, Listowel, and Marion and John Pring of RR 3, Rockwood. She will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Muriel was predeceased by her parents Frank and Lily Josling, brother Gary and Dave’s parents, John and Annie Matheson. Muriel was raised near Mitchell, Ontario and moved to this community following her marriage in 1953. Muriel opened and operated College Corner Gifts and Crafts near Molesworth from 1976 to 2002 sharing her joy for painting and crafts with the entire community and beyond. Muriel was also actively involved in the Ladies’Aid and the WMS at St. Andrew’s. Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Sunday from 1 - 4 p.m. where the funeral service was held on Monday, May 18 at 11 a.m. Interment was in Molesworth Cemetery. Memorial donations to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Molesworth or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. Eileen McClinchey was the president for the month. She read a recipe for “What can make a happy day” and one “Looking forward to June”. She followed with prayer. Eileen read the minutes of last the last meeting and Ila Cunningham gave the treasurer’s report. Roll call was answered with a favourite spring flower. Most of the meeting was spent making plans for the club’s 90th anniversary to be held in the form of a potluck on Sunday, June 14 at 1 p.m. at Auburn Community Hall. All former members, families or former members and neighbours are to be invited. There was a very successful plant sale. The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 8 at the home of Dorothy Schneider. Vera served cake and ice cream, tea and coffee for lunch. Everyone departed for home after a school half hour. Smart!
