Canadian Country Music’s 2008 Female Artist of the Year, Jessie Farrell will join one of Canada’s newest country stars, Darren McGinnis, and southwestern Ontario’s award-winning country artist, Jamie Warren in an exclusive performance in Blyth Memorial Community Hall on May 21 at 8 p.m. Kicking off the concert is the Rising Star Award Winner of the 2008 am920 Ontario Open Country Singing Contest – 15-year-old Kira Isabella of Orleans, Ontario. Vancouver-based Farrell won three 2008 Canadian Country Music Awards – Female Artist of the Year; Rising Star; and Top Female Talent of the Year. And, she was nominated for a 2009 Juno Award for Best New Artist. Her current CD Nothing Fancy (604 Records/Universal Music Canada), is a collection of country-pop. Radio has warmly embraced this young artist, and her live show – which has included opening slots for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Johnny Reid and Emerson Drive. Already critics are calling 24- year-old McGinnis, of Sussex, New Brunswick, the next big thing in Canadian country. His debut album, launched in February, includes original material he penned along with songs composed by friends such as Duane Steel, Willie Mack, Tommy Gilham, J.K. Gully with what his manager calls a rockin’ cover of Ed Bruce’s classic Mama’s Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys. Kitchener native, Warren launched his fifth CD Right Here Right Now in spring of 2009. “I finally had an adult conversation with my broken heart and these 12 songs are the transcripts,” says Warren. “I lost love, found love, and believe it or not, lost it again. In the process of losing things I found me. I came home. It’s amazing to feel again, good and bad,, and there’s no place I’d rather be than Right Here Right Now.” 2009 was a very exciting year for Kira Isabella. She won the Female Open Category and Rising Star Award at the am920 Ontario Open Country Singing Contest, and since then, has had the honour of working with some of the most dedicated and talented people working in Canadian country music today. “Everyone has been so encouraging and kind I have to pinch myself sometimes to believe it is real. Part of the Rising Star Award was to have the opportunity to record a song. And, yes, my dream came true.” Her debut single Come Around was released to radio Jan. 12. It was co-written by Willie Mack and Kyler England; produced by Jason Barry under direction of Janice Pym.
