Brussels, May 9, 1959. Rev. Lloyd
Brown officiated at the service.
Attendants were the bride’s sister
Fran (Myers) McQuarrie and the
groom’s brother Jim Richmond, now
deceased.
The newlyweds took a honeymoon
trip to Niagara Falls before returning
to make their home in Brussels,
where they raised three children,
Bonnie, who now resides in
Belfountain, John, currently of RR2,
Bluevale and Brenda, who lives at
RR3, Blyth.
Their family has grown to include
nine grandchildren: Garrett, Kirsten,
Tyson, Kaytee, Erinn, Austin, Cody,
Madison and Quintin.
Rene worked as an RNA at
Wingham and Listowel hospitals and
at Huronview, Clinton, before
launching her own successful
business, a flower and gift shop, in
Brussels. She retired in 1993.
Bob began working at J. L.
McCutcheon Motors Ltd. one year
before they were married. He is stillthere, now as principal owner of theautomobile dealership. They are both active in thecommunity and enjoy a number ofinterests. Bob loves antique cars, is amember of the Lions Club, an elder
in the United Church and a member
of the Oddfellows. He is a former
firefighter and baseball and hockey
coach. Rene belongs to the United
Church Women and serves as a
steward with the church. She is a
member of Morning Star Rebekah
Lodge and volunteers with the
Huronlea Auxiliary and Town and
County Support Services.
The couple enjoys spending part
of the winter in Florida and while
there this year they hosted an open
house at the Mobile Home Park.
Prior to their 50th anniversary
open house on Saturday, the
Richmonds renewed their wedding
vows, with their family in
attendance, at Brussels United
Church. Sandra Cable officiated.
The family-planned party later
featured entertainment, including
games and skits. Poems and stories
were shared by several friends.
Besides friends and neighbours
from Brussels and the surrounding
areas, special guests made the trip tohonour the Richmonds from Ottawa,Belleville, Tweed, Stoney Point,Caledon, Orillia and London. Richmonds celebrate 50th
